TheOncology Assistantmanages clinical and administrative duties within the Oncology Department. Clinical duties includes taking patient medical history, preparing each patient for exams, checking vital signs, information patients of treatment procedures and occasional performing lab tests. Administrative tasks include completing insurance documents, updating patient records, ordering and scheduling laboratory tests, checking in patients, scheduling appointments, answering phones and greeting patients.\ \ JOB DUTIES:

Complete new patient registration including verification of insurance with each visit\ Greet patients and prepare them for the type of treatment needed\ Obtain and record patient medical histories, vitals, test results and other information for medical records\ Coordinate the daily administrative activities, including scheduling, patient check-in and check-out, and patient medical record maintenance\ Prepare treatment rooms, ensuring cleanliness, for clinical exams and assist practitioners with procedures and other patient care.\ Deliver compassionate support, attention and assistance to patients and families\ Ensure compliance with all health care regulations, including HIPAA and OSHA

  • Maintain confidentiality of all information according to HIPAA and company policy

\ TheOncology Assistantassumes other responsibilities as assigned.\ \ JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Analytical ability to apply criteria and evaluate information to make decisions
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; and excellent interpersonal skills in teaming with patients, medical staff and the public
  • Detail oriented with proven ability to multitask
  • Professional appearance and ease in developing rapport with others
  • Basic understanding of patient care, medical terminology, coding procedures, reference tools, and appropriate clinical pharmacology for medical assistant scope
  • Knowledgeable in policies, regulations and procedures to administer patient care
  • Knowledgeable of medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care.
  • Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment
  • Knowledgeable with Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook; familiar with electronic medical health care record systems
  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations

Ability to stand, walk, talk, hear, sit; reach with arms, hands and fingers to handle and feel; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; taste and smell as demonstrated by the Occupational Performance Capacity (OPC) test and/or pre-employment physical administered by CRMC at offer
