Overview

MILITARY OPERATIONS ANALYST (2024-21572)

Bowhead seeks a Military Operations Analyst to support the United States Army Space and Missile Defense Command (USASMDC), Space and Missile Defense (SDM) Center of Excellence (SMDCoE) also known as the US SMD School. SMD School (SMDS) core functions include: 1) Educate, train, and develop leaders for Space and Missile Defense operations; 2) Develop Army Doctrine for Space, High Altitude, and Global Missile Defense; 3) Develop individual and collective training tasks for Space and Missile Defense operations; 4) Train and educate the Army at large in Space and Missile Defense; and 5) Execute the US Army’s Quality Assurance Program to ensure standards are met in the education, training, and leadership development of Soldiers and Civilians.

This position will provide support to the Division of Training and Doctrine (DOTD).

Responsibilities

• Provide Space and Missile Defense experience for doctrinal functions that support coordination and efficient execution of doctrinal activities (design, development, production, and editing).

• Coordinate doctrinal development and reviews with the warfighter and USASMDC Major Subordinate Elements (MSEs).

• Maintain the USASMDC portion of the Doctrine Literature Master Plan (DLMP) in the Training and Doctrine Development – Quality Assurance (TD2-QA) database and the Army Publication Print Schedule.

• Conduct annual self-inspection for doctrine related Army standards.

• Coordinate Space and Missile Defense related doctrinal products with USASMDC, subordinate units, and external agencies.

• Coordinate the integration of Space and Missile Defense related doctrinal products into School curriculum.

• Follow established guidance and standards published in Army Regulation (AR) 25-30, Department of Army (DA) Pamphlet 25-40, TR 25-30, TR 25-36, Doctrine Developers’ Guidance (DDG) and Army Doctrine Updates (ADU).

• Support joint doctrine development and publication processes.

• Review Air Land Sea Application (ALSA) Center and NATO manuals and doctrinal Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures (TTPs).

• Travel as required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree; degree may be waived with appropriate experience.

• 5+ years of related military experience.

• Experience with Army staff processes and staffing/coordination processes.

• Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, comfortable speaking in front of groups (online and in person).

• Familiarity with Army doctrine, doctrine development, and doctrine review processes.

• Experience using Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Teams.

• Ability to brief higher ranking officials.

• Understand the MDMP process.

• Ability to write doctrine, edit doctrine, and review FMs, TRs, ARs, PAMs, etc.

• Ability to articulate space/missile defense to non-space/missile defense personnel.

Desired Knowledge/Skills

• Experience with either Army Space Operations or Army Missile Defense Operations.

• Basic project management experience (requirement development, task prioritization, scheduling).

Physical Demands:

• Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds

• Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time

• Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Must currently hold a security clearance at the Secret or Top Secret/SCI level. US Citizenship is a requirement at this location.
