Working on the ITCD ( Integrated Treatment for Co-Occurring Disorders) team, you will utilize your experience with substance use recovery and provide support and activities through an organized treatment plan designed to ease an individual’s immediate and continued adjustment to community living. You will use advanced knowledge of psychological concepts, evidenced based interventions and coordinating delivery of mental health services with other services provided by practitioners and community partners.

Community support services are designed to help those with a long term mental illness maintain emotional and mental stability, and develop a more satisfying and productive life. In this role you will have contact with each client as much as necessary to maintain mental health. The role is tasked with helping clients set individual goals and work toward accomplishing specific objectives. You will teach and assist adult substance abuse clients how to access community resources conducive to ongoing sobriety. Actively teach, practice, and model healthy interpersonal skills, problem-solving, and relapse prevention skills.

What you'll get to do as a Community Support Specialist:

  • Provide support and activities to clients through an organized treatment plan designed to ease an individual's immediate and continued adjustment to community living. You'll be working in the community which will include clients homes, clinics, and other places around the community as part of your regular assigned case load.

  • Utilize a supportive, educational approach to promote improved functioning to meet the needs of the client, the goals of treatment while encouraging recovery and increased resiliency.

  • Provide and/or coordinate a comprehensive follow-up to all clients for whom he/she has been responsible, including follow up for missed appointments, and conducting outreach and engagement as needed.

  • Use advanced knowledge of psychological concepts, evidenced based interventions and coordinating delivery of mental health services with other services provided by practitioners and community partners.

  • Use specialized knowledge of behavioral science principles such as: Motivational interviewing, Reinforcement, Operant conditioning, Social norming, Attitude change, Persuasion, Hierarchy of needs, Interpersonal and group dynamics, Cognitive processing, Attentional processes, Personality and empirically supported behavioral intervention strategies.

  • Must be at least 21 years of age

  • A reliable vehicle & acceptable recent driving record
