Audiology Aide

Full Time, Benefits Eligible

Schedule: Monday - Friday (Schedule may vary depending on the day, but consistent from week to week).

Locations: Main hospital, Dublin, and Westerville

The Audiology Aide is responsible for performing moderately complex administrative duties for assigned department including but not limited to: drafting insurance authorizations, working with personal patient equipment, using PC software, skilled interaction with parents, patients and/or employees. Work on a team of professionals supporting children who are deaf or hard-of-hearing providing age-appropriate care and service to patients from the age of birth to 21 years, and selected adults.

  • Clerical duties including but not limited to: Preparing correspondence, documents, reports, and other materials which may be moderately complex or confidential, sometimes requiring independent judgment.

  • Clinical duties including assisting with diagnostic audiology evaluations (BOA, VRA, CPA).

  • Assist patients/families with walk-in hearing aid and cochlear implant troubleshooting and repair.

  • Establishes, maintains appropriate departmental records, patient charts, and documentation. Sorts, files and distributes documents and supplies as necessary

  • Follows department processes for scheduling patients during phone calls and while in the clinic.

  • Ensure that pre-certification/pre-authorization process is completed on or prior to the patient’s clinic visit.

  • Financial Counseling/Billing

  • Infant and School Aged Hearing Screening

  • Support operational excellence with phone line, fax and correspondence with outside agencies and referral partners.

  • Support supply par levels with ordering and disbursement of clinical supplies.

  • Maintain adherence to HIPAA guidelines regarding patient confidentiality and patient information.

  • Actively participate in staff meetings, department, hospital committees, clinic team’s, and Qi Projects

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Education, Skills, and Experience:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.

  • Knowledge of correct grammar and spelling.

  • One-year clerical experience in medical facility preferred.

  • Skill in using personal computer; and database, and word processing software. (Microsoft)

  • Knowledge of medical terminology.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with audiologists, physicians, and clinical staff.

  • Ability to handle multiple job functions simultaneously.

  • Ability to operate office equipment (fax, copier, printer, computer)

  • Must have excellent organizational and accuracy skills.

  • Must have Ohio driver's license and be able to drive to and from all the Close to Home Physician Care Centers, as staffing needs change.

  • Must obtain State licensure within 90 days of hire.


Must be able to see, hear, stand, walk, speak, read and perform manual tasks with or without accommodation, and care for oneself with little or no difficulty.
