Credit Risk Management Analyst, Sr.

Position Summary:

We are looking for a talented and motivated individual to help create the future of energy and customer solutions, while protecting AEP through the administration of the company's enterprise risk management credit policy under limited supervision.

Individual will be part of the Commercial Risk team that works across all AEP business units to support complex transactions, with a focus on Energy Trading, Procurement, and Renewable Energy projects (primarily Solar & Wind). Promote cross-functional collaboration to create solutions and drive results for internal and external customers. Responsible for determining the financial ability of AEP's counterparties to deliver contracted products and services, and/or meet payment obligations.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Consult with business to discover solutions to business challenges and opportunities through critical thinking and problem solving skills.

  • Mitigate credit risks to preserve revenues and avoid losses while facilitating business opportunities.

  • Perform initial and ongoing quantitative and qualitative analysis of customers, suppliers, and counterparties to establish monetary and tenor limits, and assignment of internal ratings.

  • Work cross-functionally to negotiate, structure, and administer contractual documents that establish business relationships with vendors, customers, and/or partners.

  • Critically analyze and comprehend a variety of contract terms and conditions as well as possess a strong working knowledge of the energy industry and associated credit-risk language.

  • Possess familiarity with various energy contracts including NAESBs, EEIs, ISDAs, RECs, REPAs, EPC and other associated documents.

  • Review collateral documents including Letters of Credit, Surety Bonds and Guarantees.

  • Be responsible for formulation and implementation of department policies, procedures and guidelines, and implementation and maintenance of the corporate contract databases and trading system(s).

  • Prioritize workflow to meet deadlines and communicate any issues, risks or actions needed to the broader team.

  • Assist with identifying continuous improvement opportunities and implementing solutions with cross-functional teams.

  • Compile and analyze information to create reporting for both internal and external stakeholders, including senior management.

  • Ensure maintenance and adherence for all SOX controls.

Education

Bachelors Degree, preferably in Finance or Accounting; (Or) Associates degree, preferably in Finance or Accounting with two (2) years of experience

Experience
