Volt Services Group Robot Technician in Columbus, Ohio

Our client is revolutionizing deliveries with autonomous robots. The robots are designed to deliver food, groceries and packages across college campuses and neighborhoods in minutes. The delivery robots have now completed millions of autonomous deliveries to date, traveled millions of miles and are currently doing more than 140k road crossings each day. Their contribution to society includes reducing congestion and pollution, providing zero-emissions deliveries, increasing the quality of life for residents, empowering seniors and disabled people, and enabling affordable delivery for local businesses. We are now looking for a Robot Technician who will provide in-depth technical support for our robots as well as to our operators, handlers and partners. You will also execute start-of-day or end-of-day charging and cleaning of the robot fleet. You will know everything there is to know about our the robots and will be able to fix any technical problems they encounter - even if it requires flying it to the other side of the world for the day! Volt is immediately hiring for Robot Technician in Harrisonburg, VA. In this role, you will get to: Operational Service Tasks: * 15% Responsible for operational service. You will be accountable for the morning roll-out of robots to service areas, or the end-of-day sanitation and ensuring robots are cleaned and charging. * 10% Observing robots remotely and being ready to assist robots in unexpected situations (accidents, field and Unforeseen failures) . Reading repair manuals and liaising with other professionals. Report any issues to the onsite team and create a failure ticket. * 5% Transporting the robot to delivery areas by ebike or foot (which may include some occasional lifting of up to 70 lbs). Technical Tasks: * 40% Focus on maintaining the health of the robots through daily repairs and troubleshooting (Mechanical, electrical and electronics). Monitoring and servicing systems, diagnosing problems and troubleshooting equipment, running tests and completing reports, updating and improving existing systems, and repairing or replacing faulty equipment (tires, electronics, motors). * 20% Carrying out maintenance activities and upgrades on robots and chargers * 10% Maintaining our hub-based warehouse and conducting regular inventories Physical requirements: * Office work * Movement ability to frequent usage of wrists, hands and finger dexterity to movements such as constant typing * Occasional lifting of items with weight up to 70 lbs This is a full time opportunity. Must be flexible to work nights and weekends as needed. Temp to Hire A successful candidate will have: * A passion for robots and innovative technologies * Previous experience in managing a large fleet of devices * Knowledge of Unix, SSH /Linux systems, CLI tools and scripting * Previous experience in Technical Support and with any service desk application * Good knowledge regarding mechanics, electronics and IT * Experience with electronics assembly (small parts, wiring, circuit boards, voltage, etc.) * Experience with troubleshooting/problem-solving for malfunctions and errors * Proven work experience in enterprise technical support, IT support or as a technical engineer * Ability to use hand and power tools * Excellent client-facing skills and active listening skills * Ability to travel.
