City of Upper Arlington Service Worker in Columbus, Ohio

*RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE: * 1. Performs maintenance on sanitary sewer system through video inspection, line cleaning, smoke and dye test, and the use of the flow monitor and rain gauge; maintains all appurtenance parts of the storm sewer system through video inspection, line repair, catch basin cleaning, catch basin repair, maintenance of culverts, drainage swales in easements, right-of-ways, and creek beds located in easement or right-of-ways; maintains water distribution system through hydrant repair/replacement, line flushing, raising or lowering of watch valves.

  1. Repairs curb and gutters, sidewalks and wheelchair curb cuts, roadway substructure and surface repairs including; asphalt, topsoil, stone repairs, grinding and tear-out repairs; performs street cleaning activities including; snow and ice removal, salting of roadways, plowing streets and drifts, and equipment maintenance.

  2. Performs routine street maintenance activities including; painting crosswalks, stop bars, and messages (e.g. arrows, schools, safety, and parking lots); pavement marking and layout; substructure and blacktop pavement repair; crack sealing, pothole patching, weed control and sign manufacture and installation.

  3. Performs preventative maintenance; landscapes and restores dig sites to original condition; purchases materials; performs masonry work while raising, lowering, repairing or installing manholes or catch basins.

  4. Performs visual inspection of manholes or catch basins; repairs water lines and replaces/repairs fire hydrants; performs concrete forming and finishing work for curbs and sidewalks; performs data entry and maintains accurate records.

  5. Maintains licenses and certifications as required, if any.

  6. Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance.

  7. Meets all job safety requirements and all applicable OSHA safety standards that pertain to essential functions.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 9. Performs other duties as required. (5%)

QUALIFICATIONS: High School diploma or GED; or any combination of training, education, or experience which provides the desired knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the position.  

LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:( indicates that licensure/certification can be obtained after employment) First Aid and CPR certification; Confined Space Entry certification; Ability to obtain Class B within six (6) months of hire and ability to obtain a Class A within twelve (12) months of hire; and the ability to maintain insurability under the City's vehicle insurance policy.
