Summary

The purpose of a Trainer is to train associates during their initial onboard training period. Provide remedial and supplemental training to associates to assist them in learning proper job functions, safe work habits, rotation procedures and appropriate food safety measures.

The Trainer will also provide documented feedback to their supervisor on associate’s performance.

Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Introduce associates and temporary associates (when applicable) to their jobs, including basic training; rotation procedures; safe work habits, clock-in and clock-out procedures as well as monitor associates for proper GMP’s and safety equipment (hair/beard net, ear plugs, safety glasses, aprons, boots, etc.). Insure associates are given the information and training to be successful in their department and at Perdue.

Continually pursue a skill level at or above the required certification level for all general labor positions within the Concord Further Processing Departments

Ensure associates have been given and understand safety policies and practices including walking them thru evacuation route from their work area to their zone and physically showing them the location of SDS book prior to going to the production floor.

Review performance with associates and advise of strengths and weaknesses. Conduct quality and quantity checks of associate’s performance and document on pre-determined evaluation period. Forward documentation of all evaluation forms to their supervisor

Monitor associate’s progress and report to supervisor on a weekly basis. Facilitate incorporation of associate into work team .

Adhere to all safety requirements including PPE preventing and reporting unsafe acts and conditions, Lockout-Tagout procedures and Process Safety Management related matters.

Continually monitor and evaluate Operator(s) equipment comprehension on a predetermined basis. This includes holding training classes with new and existing key positions and operators in order to provide continuous education on the equipment on the floor

Facilitate orientation, PPE requirements, and all onboarding processes

Administer Job Preview Program (JPP) with potential candidates on-floor

Minimum Education

High School or equivalent not required but beneficial. Strong reading, writing, analytical and math skills required. A High School diploma or GED preferred. Proficient in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint preferred.

Experience Requirements

Worked a minimum of 6 months of consecutive work history with one employer within the past 3 years.

Experience Preferred

Experience in poultry processing/manufacturing environment preferred.

Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements

The longest time in a single interval is 4 to 8 hours with >30 repetitions per minute. Will be exposed to <32 degrees to >75 degrees. Dampness exposure varies. Walking & standing surfaces also vary. Chemical exposure to <40 ppm, <5ppm Ammonia, <10 ppm of Carbon Dioxide vapors, Dry ice (CO2) handling, Caustic detergent cleaners, Carbon fuel fumes, Lubricating oils, Hydraulic oils and Salt. Noise exposure ranges from <80 DB to >110 DB. Light intensity exposure ranges from 50 ft. to >100 ft. This position requires >8 hours of standing with variable mobility. This position requires >8 hours of walking/mobility with >30 repetitions per minute a maximum distance of >100 ft. This position requires >8 hours of sitting with variable positions. The longest interval of time bending is >8 hours with >30 repetitions per minute. This position requires bending forward >120 degrees, backwards >10 degrees and to the side >30 degrees. This position requires twisting >90 degrees forward with >30 repetitions per minute. The longest interval of lifting is >8 hours with >30 minutes per minute. Maximum weight lifted is >80 lbs with >20 repetitions per minute. Starting position height of lift is floor level. Final position height of lift is >7ft. Extension reach during lift is >24”. Body positions during lift vary. The longest interval of time reaching is >8 hours with >30 repetitions per minute. This position requires reaching forward a distance of >24 inches, <2 or >10 degrees backwards and <10 or >30 degrees to the side. The longest interval of time grasping is >8 hours with >30 repetitions per minute. The use of one or both hands may be required for grasping. Objects grasped include: chicken parts, hand tool(s), equipment handle(s)or a container. Percentage of time in an interval grasping is 76 to 100%. This position requires the use of knives, scissors, and clippers, sharpening steel or a hand scoop. Personal protection equipment/devices as required by Perdue.
