Naval Facilities Engineering Command POWERED SUPPORT SYSTEMS MECHANIC in Corpus Christi, Texas

Summary You will serve as a POWERED SUPPORT SYSTEMS MECHANIC in the PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT of NAV FACILITIES ENGINEERING COMMAND SE. You don't need to be active duty military to serve your country! Responsibilities You will inspect newly installed equipment to ensure operating efficiency. You will repair system components to minimize down time. You will operate and adjust power production components to ensure efficient electric power control and distribution and to mee electrical load demand. You will prevent major damage or system shutdowns by adhering to proper maintenance requirements. You will analyze blueprints, manuals, instructions, and specifications to perform repair and maintenance on powered support systems. You will operate instruments (e.g., voltmeters, ohmmeters, phase meters) to install, adjust, or repair equipment. You will select the most efficient and expeditious method of repair to permit the continuance of system operations. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. The Screen-out Element for this position is: 1) Interpreting and applying requirements contained in manufacturer's brochures, manuals, electrical diagrams, mechanical drawings, schematics, government instructions, and other documents; 2) Selecting from a variety of work methods the most efficient and expeditious method of repairs to permit the continuance of the system operations; and 3) Preparing and maintaining timely, accurate and up-to-date records and documentation.
