Joule' Healthcare is seeking a Chief Nurse Officer (CNO) for an established healthcare organization in Moffatt County, CO. This position is responsible for organizing and administering areas of clinical services to attain the hospital’s objectives as established by the Executive Team and Governing Board. The CNO is responsible for supervising nurses and nurse managers, facilitating the design and implementing the delivery of patient care, recommending strategies to improve services, reaching established goals, maintaining satisfactory outcomes and contributing to profitability.

Essential Functions and Basic Duties

Position Specific Performance Expectations:

  • Effectively represents patient care/nursing perspective to governing bodies, and external audiences on behalf of the organization.

  • Ensure a consistent, principle-driven brand for clinical nursing practice across the organization.

  • Develops credibility and trust throughout the organization nursing enterprise including but not limited to the CEO, clinical staff, boards, medical staffs and organization peers through a variety of communication strategies.

  • Provides the voice of the nursing/patient care enterprise at the organization governing body level.

  • Aligns and ensures input is received from stakeholders across the organization.

  • Participate in external activities locally to give visibility and representation to the organization’s role in the profession and the broader health care industry.

  • Represents the organization in appropriate advocacy efforts/activities at a regional and national level.

  • Implements a system strategy for the continuing development of the inter-professional relationship of medicine, nursing and other disciplines.

  • Supports the development and implementation of organization wide standards and practices for care of patients/ populations

  • Leads and or contributes to a comprehensive long-term workforce development plan with academic partners to meet the future needs of the system and its health care delivery model.

  • Cultivate a strategic partnership network with nursing academic organizations that aligns with the system’s workforce plan and future needs.


  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and a valid, current state licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse.

  • S. Degree in Nursing, Health Care or Business Administration.

  • Master’s Degree required.

  • Unencumbered License/Certification (if applicable).

  • ICS-100 and ICS-200 completed within 90 days of hire or entering into position.


  • 5+ years of progressive leadership/administrative responsibility for Nursing care services required.

  • Experience in the budgeting process and management techniques required.

  • Current patient care theories and practice required.

  • Quality Improvement training strongly preferred.

Qualifications and Education

Masters or better in Nursing or related field. (Preferred)

Licenses & Certifications

Registered Nurse Colorado (Required)
