Robert Half Sales Tax Analyst in Dallas, Texas

Description

We are seeking a Sr. Sales Tax Accountant to join our team in Coppell, Texas. This role is vital in ensuring compliance, mitigating risks, and optimizing tax strategies for our organization in the retail industry. The successful candidate will be responsible for researching, interpreting, and applying sales and use tax laws, preparing and filing tax returns, and providing audit support among other responsibilities.

Responsibilities:

• Research, interpret, and apply sales and use tax laws, regulations, and rulings across various jurisdictions

• Prepare and file accurate sales and use tax returns for multiple jurisdictions within prescribed deadlines

• Monitor legislative changes and updates in tax laws to ensure compliance with evolving regulations

• Analyze sales transactions and assess tax implications to ensure accurate tax reporting

• Reconcile sales and use tax accounts, identifying discrepancies and implementing corrective actions as necessary

• Generate reports and provide insights to support tax planning and decision-making processes

• Assist in sales and use tax audits by gathering documentation, responding to inquiries, and providing necessary support to auditors

• Conduct internal audits to assess compliance with sales and use tax laws and recommend improvements to processes and controls

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement tax-efficient strategies to minimize tax liabilities while ensuring compliance with regulations

• Provide guidance on tax implications of business transactions, including mergers, acquisitions, and expansions into new territories

Requirements • Proficient in Sales Tax and Monthly Sales Tax calculations and procedures

• Demonstrated experience in Corporate Tax Return preparation and filing

• Knowledge and experience in Multi-state Tax Returns

• Ability to perform Ledger Reconciliations with accuracy and attention to detail

• Familiarity with the OneSource tax software

• Experience in handling Transaction tax

• Prior experience in a senior tax role within the retail industry

• Strong organizational skills and ability to meet strict deadlines

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

• Relevant certification such as CPA or CMA is preferred

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel

• Knowledge of current tax laws and regulations

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team

• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail

• High ethical standards and professionalism, respecting confidentiality when handling sensitive financial information.
