Geisinger Nursing Professional Development LPN in Danville, Pennsylvania

Job Summary

Unlock your potential with our Nursing Professional Development LPN position, where you'll play a crucial role in advancing patient care and shaping the future of nursing at Geisinger. We are seeking a dedicated and experienced LPN to support our inpatient nursing education programs. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in inpatient nursing and have experience in educational roles. This position involves developing, implementing and evaluating educational programs designed to enhance nursing practices and patient care.

Job Duties

The Nursing Professional Development LPN develops, implements, and cooperates in the evaluation of a Nursing Assistant Residency program.

  • Participate in the development of curriculum for the Patient Care Technician Basic and advanced orientation program, that incorporates evidence-based instructional practices to support the outcomes delineated in the Patient Care Technician Competency index. Curriculum development includes participation by the Nursing Professional Development LPN and Nursing Professional Development Practitioner team.

  • Develop and implement a two-day training for interns, extern sand co-op students on topics outlined in the Patient Care Technician Basic orientation program

  • Develop and implement course outlines, lesson plans, and examinations to meet the academic and behavioral objectives of the Nursing Assistant Residency program.

  • Develop, keep current handouts and materials for Patient Care Technician orientees .

  • Develop and keep current presentations to align with Geisinger practices and policies and the Patient Care Technician Basic orientation curriculum.

  • Coordinate presenters as appropriate in the delivery of the Patient Care Technician Basic orientation curriculum.

  • Observe, evaluate, and document student performance and progress in classroom and clinical settings.

  • Establish, observe, provide feedback and individually document work attributes of Patient Care Technician orientees such as, but not limited to, being on time, attendance, appropriate attire, teamwork, civility, etc.

  • Maintain instructional expertise in all content areas of curriculum.

  • Focuses on empirical quality outcomes related to clinical practice.

  • Serves as a strong role model in professional practice as evidenced by strong relationships with staff and members of other departments, effective communications, appropriate resource utilization and sound planning skills.

  • Actively support Magnet philosophies such as a healthy work environment, professional growth and patient and family involvement in care decisions.

Position Details

Preferred qualifications: minimum of two years prior inpatient nursing experience
