Primary Purpose of Position:

The Production Specialist is responsible for the development/implementation of processes and procedures for Commercial Tire and Service Center (CTSC) manufacturing plants. Their objective is to maximize productivity, improve efficiency, minimize cost and produce the highest quality retread/refinished wheel products in the market. The incumbent must plan, organize and provide plant operational direction, technical service, quality assurance and on-site training for Goodyear CTSC retread/wheel refinishing plants. He/She must also perform process/operational troubleshooting, conduct root cause analysis, develop/implement process improvements, perform equipment adjustments/maintenance and provide technical support. The work scope includes not only the plant’s production equipment/processes, but also the business management systems/processes.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop/Implement processes and procedures to maximize productivity/efficiencies of the CTSC manufacturing facilities and achieve performance metrics (including production targets, efficiency, cost, waste, reruns/rejects, adjustments, overtime [OT] and turn time). Coordinate/Leverage all available resources (i.e. Goodyear Regional Service Technician Engineers, Goodyear Learning and Development and manufacturer representatives) to maximize performance

  • Analyze performance indicators, overall results and production techniques in order to guide local production teams to develop/implement corrective action plans. Audit operational procedures for Maintenance, Environmental/Health/Safety (EHS), Human Resources (HR), Transportation and Finance for compliance - Coach corrective actions (as required).

  • Provide hands-on training, guidance and communication related to manufacturing processes/procedures and performance standards/expectations

  • Communicate/Train EHS CTSC team regarding housekeeping standards, expectations and procedures. Teach Production associates on how to identify, mitigate and communicate manufacturing process risk. Review EHS performance/compliance and compare to EHS related programs/expectations. Guide local production teams to develop/implement corrective action plans.

  • Guide local Production teams to create/implement robust associate recruitment, development, discipline and succession plans.

Education:

  • Bachelors degree or in lieu of degree 8 + years of experience in manufacturing and/or continuous improvement required

Experience:

  • 3 + years of experience in manufacturing and/or continuous improvement, with a solid understanding of product quality, waste reduction and experience in understanding product integrity required

  • 3 + years of experience in Commercial Tire Retread Manufacturing

  • 2 + years of experience in Management

Skills:

  • Extensive knowledge of commercial tire retreading

  • Knowledge of manufacturing systems: production, inventory, cost management, customer service

  • Strong data analysis and problem-solving capabilities

  • Knowledge of commercial wheel refinishing and/or powder coating

  • Strong mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical aptitude.
