JF ACQUISITION LLC Estimating Assistant in Dayton, Ohio

The Estimating Assistant will be responsible for assisting the estimating department with all facets of the bidding process. He or she will collaborate with the Senior Estimators and/or Preconstruction Mangers to deliver precise and detailed estimates in a timely matter, with an interest of possibly becoming an Estimator or Director of Estimating sometime in the future, if desired.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Communicate directly and serve as liaison with subcontractors, vendors, design team (architects, engineers, consultants) and client. Point of contact for managing assigned trade subcontractors and distributing information.
  • Assist with preparing and assembling bids and proposals for different contract types (Lump Sum, Guaranteed Maximum Price, Cost Plus, or other).
  • Assist with document management for the project, including receiving drawings and specifications, providing the proper file structure and distribution to all parties.
  • Assist with preparing detailed estimate by completing quantity take-offs, analysis, estimate input, and studies for all items incorporated in the assigned scope.
  • Prepare comparison analysis to previous estimates for assigned scopes of work.
  • Perform a constructability analysis through communication with the project team, designers, and subcontractor market.
  • Responsible for understanding all factors required for a comprehensive trade package scope including contract documents, site logistics, schedule, coordination, means and methods.
  • Prepare scope requisitions for assigned trades; coordinate with project team to eliminate scope gaps and overlaps.
  • Obtain and evaluate subcontractor proposals relative to their scope of work. Document information into Bid Scope Sheet, organize and participate in Post Bid Review.
  • Manage action items from Post Bid and finalize subcontract scope. Make recommendations to the Project Lead for award.
  • Assist with development of a value analysis study by defining alternatives to the proposed scope that are more cost-efficient.
  • Assist in development of schedules for various projects.
  • All other duties as assigned.
Requirements

Bachelors Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related is preferred; High school diploma or GED required

Minimum of 3 years Estimating Experience with a minimum of 1 year Field Experience in a Site Superintendent or Project Manager Position is highly preferred

Excellent communication skills.

Strong attention to detail.

Ability to read, understand and interpret contract documents, drawings, specifications, scopes of work and project schedule. 

Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.

Ability to work independently and with minimal structure while exercising great judgment.

Strong Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work well under pressure to meet established deadlines.

Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Project, Power Point, Word, Outlook)

Working knowledge of Microsoft Schedule, Primavera, or Sure Trak scheduling software is preferred.

Working knowledge of onscreen take-off software is preferred.

Must be able to meet company's employment requirements, which includes passing a drug screen, criminal background check, and MVR, if driving for the company

Physical Requirements: include occasional lifting/carrying of 10 pounds; visual acuity, speech and hearing; hand and eye coordination and manual dexter
