IT Installations Intern

Position Summary:

We are looking for an Intern for our growing GT installation team. This position is responsible day to day tasks that include but not limited to the installation of end user PC’s and other end user compute items, networking equipment, servers, printers, fax machines and voice and data cabling. The position will also be preforming user moves of IT hardware among to and from local ADM Decatur complexes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • In this role, you are required to use critical thinking and self-motivation for completion of daily and weekly task.

  • Assistance and support technical problems resolution

  • Using ticketing system for all work completed.

  • Basic knowledge required to support first level application specific problems

  • Ability to troubleshoot basic problems and effectively utilize available resources to resolve problems.

  • Create and maintain positive relationships within user base to ensure support processes meet customer needs.

  • Create and maintain positive relationships within the various GT support groups to meet needs and develop good working links.

  • Ability to work well within groups to meet GT department directions and goals.

  • Understand, explain, and assist with adherence of internal policy as it pertains to the group and user/customer base.

  • Working with campus sites and local departments for company end user setups and moves.

  • Be proficient in WAN/LAN cabling installation practices

  • Order and configure IT equipment.

  • Assist end users with technical issues and support

  • Work with 3rd party vendors on escalated issues

Standard Job Requirements:

  • Working knowledge of Windows PC

  • Working knowledge of MS office suite

  • Working knowledge PC connections for their installation.

  • Extraordinarily strong troubleshooting skills

  • Diagnoses any technical problems for customers and or colleagues.

  • Being able to lift upwards of 50 pounds

  • Self-directed, innovative thinker. In addition to a strong attention to detail, strong candidates will also be able to see the strategic implications for the business in the big picture. You are fluent in telling the story to both technical and non-technical audiences

  • Strong business aptitude, the ability to rapidly learn new problems

  • Creative, proactive, bold and out-of-box thinking

  • Great curiosity, high enthusiasm, integrity, ingenuity, results-orientation, self-motivation, and resourcefulness in a fast-paced competitive environment

Educational Requirements:

  • Pursuing a degree related to the field (Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Business Information Systems, Computer Information, Computer Engineering, etc.)
