Manager – Indirect Procurement

Join our dynamic Indirect Procurement team and lead the strategic sourcing of $100M to $200M in annual capital and construction related expenditures across all our Americas facilities (including distribution centers, innovation facilities, manufacturing sites, and corporate offices). If capacity allows, you will be given the opportunity to expand responsibilities by collaborating with your regional Indirect Procurement colleagues and lead capital sourcing interventions. Key spend categories include: conveyors, racking, forklifts, pick modules, mezzanines, annual MHE maintenance contracts, corporate office architect & design services, engineering services, general contractors, furniture, and construction / facilities project management among others. Flow to the work is in our organizational DNA so you may find yourself sourcing other categories that will not only help deliver upon business needs but will provide you with category broadening experiences. Key internal stakeholders include supply chain operations, engineering, manufacturing, finance, facilities management and real estate teams.

Role will be required to influence externally and internally across multiple hierarchical levels (including up to VP level). Position requires strong analytical skills and interpersonal skills to identify new opportunities, drive allocation recommendations and influence the decision-making of others. Individual must be a self-starter and have a passion for working with others, leading projects, communicating effectively, negotiating, and making a difference!

How You Will Make a Difference:

Improve the quality of service and external partner capability to enable our business and improve our employee value proposition. Contribute to the bottom-line of our annual Indirect Procurement savings and cost avoidance goals.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead the strategic sourcing of capital and construction projects that fuel our business growth.

  • Plan, manage, and coordinate multiple category sourcing projects. Evaluate opportunities by category to ensure that the desired business results are achieved based on best total value (savings, quality, delivery, etc.).

  • Build partnerships to influence externally and internally across multiple hierarchical levels (including up to VP level) to identify new opportunities, drive allocation recommendations and influence decision-making.

  • Analyze, review and finalize sourcing decisions based on RFx process outcomes, and negotiate regional/national/global agreements to ensure that the selection of suppliers meets all of VF’s requirements as determined by subject matter experts (SME’s).

  • Manage and track VF contracts with suppliers, liaise between the legal department and suppliers in the agreement process, protect the best interests of VF, and ensure successful and timely contract completion.

  • Follow up routinely to the accuracy, direction and completion of project objectives with business owners to ensure process efficiency. Maintain open lines of communication will all concerned parties related to sourcing activities.

  • Continuously develop procurement skills and knowledge of supply base through research, due diligence, training, bench-marking and other means.

Years of Related Professional Experience: 5+ years

Educational/ Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business, engineering, or related field preferred

  • Experience with the capital & construction spend category is strongly preferred

  • Able to influence others with the use of data to see another point-of view, particularly people at higher levels in the company

  • Self-starting – proactively pursues courses of action when opportunities present themselves without prompting from others

  • Strong follow through to ensure all elements of a project are in place and functioning properly during and after implementation

  • Must be analytical and able to draw conclusions and make decisions with sometimes limited data

  • Comfortable negotiating terms and positions with others. Strong negotiation skills

  • Able to manage others, delegate responsibilities and hold associates accountable

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Must be results-oriented and drive for best possible outcomes

  • Able to project authority in group settings and have strong presentation skills

  • Esourcing and Microsoft Office

  • Experience working with or maintaining processes related to P2P systems, ERP systems, etc.

Special Physical and/or Mental Requirements:

  • Travel, as required, 10% amount of time

Hiring Range :

$94,176.00 USD - $117,720.00 USD annually

Incentive Potential : This position is eligible for additional compensation awards that may include an annual incentive plan, sales incentive, or commission potential. Specific details of the additional compensation eligibility for this position will be provided during the recruiting and interview process.
