Generac Energy Services is a cutting-edge team that is working to provide end-to-end digital solutions and experiences for customers who are striving to manage increasingly complex portfolios of residential and/or industrial distributed energy resources and who want to leverage the power flexibility of their portfolio into energy markets and utility programs.

As a Data Scientist specializing in Cognitive AI, Large Language Models (LLMs), and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), you will be responsible for developing and implementing advanced applications, models, and algorithms to extract insights from complex data sets. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to design and execute data-driven solutions and help expand our data science team and enhance our current data science tools and practices. This role requires a strong foundation in programming, expertise in machine learning techniques, and recent experience with Cognitive AI, LLMs, and RAG.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Utilize Cognitive AI techniques to extract meaningful insights and patterns from unstructured data sources.

Leverage Large Language Models (LLMs) to build natural language understanding and generation systems.

Implement Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) approaches to enhance information retrieval and content generation.

Contribute to our data collection, storage, and retrieval strategies.

Work closely with stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.

Evaluate and integrate third-party APIs and libraries to enhance model performance and functionality.

Stay updated with the latest advancements in machine learning, Cognitive AI, and NLP (Natural Language Processing) research.

Mentor junior team members and provide guidance on best practices in data science and machine learning.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, or a related field (advanced degree preferred) or equivalent experience.

• 5+ years of experience in data science, machine learning, or related roles.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities:

• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or Java, with a strong emphasis on Python.

• Demonstrated expertise in machine learning techniques, including deep learning, NLP, and reinforcement learning.

• Recent hands-on experience with Cognitive AI, Large Language Models (LLMs), and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) is highly desirable.

• Experience with prompt engineering and

• Deep understanding of data preprocessing, feature engineering, and model evaluation techniques.

• Experience with Cloud Based Data Science, Machine Learning, and Cognitive AI tools and services.

• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

• Proven track record of delivering high-quality solutions in a fast-paced environment.

Compensation:

Generac is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The salary range for this role when based in Denver, Colorado is $127,680 to $159,000. This compensation will ultimately be in line with the location in which the position is filled. Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as a candidate’s relevant work experience, skills, certifications, and geographic location. This role is eligible for variable compensation including short- and long-term incentives. Hybrid work environment is supported, position locations available in Denver, CO.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. On occasion, the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend, or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
