You ensure that our best products are represented on TheNorthFace.com and tell the brand story for an immersive customer experience. As the Buyer, you will plan and purchase style and quantity as well as determine the relevant quality of merchandise in accordance with customer demand, market trends, brand direction and fiscal obligations. Here at The North Face, you will be empowered to drive results as you maximize sales and gross margin performance coupled with inventory management. This is an analytical job—we need someone who is detail oriented and enjoys operating control-related standards and procedures. This role is highly influential and requires a strong collaboration with Store Teams, Product and most importantly your first team of Buying, Planning, and Site Merchandising.
How You Will Move The Needle
Oversees the assortment strategy for Men’s Apparel on TheNorthFace.com, assessing Brand strategies in conjunction with DTC assortment needs. Develops and briefs in market relevant product category and collection opportunities to drive consumer loyalty (acquisition and retention tactics).
Builds a strong relationship with the Global Category Managers (Product), collaborating on the assortment strategy for DTC. Engages in Go-to-Market (GTM) process and applies current selling and channel trend knowledge to support future product line architecture. Executes style/color adoption and forecasts during Sketch and Proto Review milestones.
Partners closely with Site Merchandising team upstream in the GTM process to deliver a comprehensive view of the DTC digital strategy by the Wholesale Marketplace Alignment milestone.
Owns the coordination and collaboration with Store Buying counterpart throughout the GTM process ensuring a level of consistency across the Direct to Consumer channels, delivering a seamless brand experience for The North Face consumer.
Partners with Allocation and Data & Analytics on the category size curve strategy, using channel knowledge and analytics to plan and buy the right sizes for TheNorthFace.com.
Collaborates with Site Merchandising & Product on the season’s key product organizing principles and attribution requirements needed to bring the assortment strategy to life on TheNorthFace.com.
Supports Digital Production and Site Merchandising teams with sample tracking and retrieval- facilitating planned publish date achievement.
Drives in-season sales and inventory management, providing direction to Planning, Site Merchandising, and Merchandise Operations teams on ATS/QT re-orders, product markdowns and transfers in accordance with new product flows.
Partners with Site Merchandising on key product PLP placement and publish plans to maximize volume impact and drive conversion.
Analyzes product performance and results of previous buy strategies and makes tactical adjustments to leverage opportunities for increased profitability.
Creates and analyzes product selling reports, historical recaps, and ad-hoc reports to communicate business performance and product and/or brand opportunities to management and key cross-functional partners.
Develops and trains Assistant Buyer, instilling a passion for continuous improvement and can-do attitude. Fosters and empowers the pod – Buyer, Planner, Site Merchandiser.
Seeks to understand and solve for business complexities by owning the update and/or creation of a newly needed tool and/or process to improve the team’s efficiency and buy accuracy.
Collaborates with Product and Supply Planning on speed to market and SMU programs as well as replenishment programs to meet in-stock targets.
Skills for Success
Years of Related Professional Experience: 3+ years of prior experience in DTC Buying (or Planning and Allocation), with 1+ years at an associate level.
Educational/Position Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree (BA) or equivalent from four-year college or university; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Intermediate to Advanced user of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint (a must)
Detail-oriented (a must)
First-rate business acumen with proven ability in driving financial results
Ability to work under pressure in a dynamic environment and to quickly understand, assess & problem solve by leveraging analytical skills
Entrepreneurial attitude with a demonstrated ability to develop and drive strategy
Sound decision-making skills and the facility to plan and prioritize short- and long-range projects
Strong knowledge of process-flow through supply chain
Exemplary business writing skills
Effective verbal communication skills, including meeting facilitation and presentations
Team player with the ability to foster and maintain effective working relationships with a wide of range of cross-functional stakeholders
Special Physical and/or Mental Requirements:
Willing and able to work additional hours when needed
Bend, lift, open and move product and related office items varying in weight from 1 to 25lbs
Travel Required: Yes, 5% of the time

$82,080.00 USD - $123,120.00 USD annually
Annual Incentive Eligibility :
This position is eligible to participate in VF's Annual Incentive Plan. Incentive Plan awards are contingent upon (1) achievement of your individual objectives and (2) VF achieving its' Corporate and business level financial objectives.
Long Term Incentive Eligibility :
This position is not eligible for long term incentive.
