The LAN/WAN Network Engineer Team Lead is responsible for leading the design, implementation, and maintenance of the local area network (LAN) and wide area network (WAN) infrastructure and affiliated services. This role requires a deep understanding of network protocols, hardware, software, and security mechanisms. The Network Engineer Team Lead will help lead a team of network engineers, mentor junior engineers, and engineer solutions for an outsourced operations third party, while collaborating with cross-functional teams to support business objectives and exceed stakeholder expectations.

Top 3 Required Skills/Experience –

• Lead the Network Engineering team to design, configure, and maintain the LAN/WAN infrastructure, including switches, routers, firewalls, load balancers, wireless, content delivery and cloud access technologies.

• Document network configurations, procedures, and policies in accordance with IT best practices, maintaining clear and organized records

• Oversee network performance, implementing necessary tuning and upgrades to maintain high availability and minimize downtime

• Plan and execute network capacity initiatives, considering the organization's growth and technology evolution, in alignment with the third-party provider's objectives and service agreements

• Manage vendor relationships and serve as the primary technical contact for external communication related to network infrastructure matters, demonstrating exceptional collaboration and communication skills with the third-party operations provider.

• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work in a fast-paced environment, focusing on delivering exceptional results.

• Capacity to troubleshoot and resolve complex network issues effectively and efficiently, with proficiency in mentoring junior engineers and imparting practical knowledge.

• Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) with experience presenting to technical and non-technical stakeholders, with a demonstrated ability to effectively communicate, manage expectations, and collaborate with management and peers.

Education/Certifications – Include:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience

• Minimum of 8 years of hands-on experience in LAN/WAN Network Engineering, with at least 3 years in a team lead or leadership capacity, demonstrating expertise in overseeing network operations for outsourced third-party providers.

• Strong understanding of networking protocols, including TCP/IP, OSI model, BGP, OSPF, MPLS, QoS, and VLAN.

• Proficient in network hardware and software, such as Cisco, F5, and Zscaler, Akamai

• Expertise in network architecture, design, and security best practices, with a proven track record of providing high-quality services to third-party providers.
