Robert Half Payroll Tax Specialist in Detroit, Michigan

Description An industry leading Robert Half client is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Tax detail oriented to join their dynamic team. As a key member of our finance department, you will oversee and manage the payroll tax operations to ensure accuracy and compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations. Key Responsibilities: Supervise training of team members and administer payroll using ADP Workforce Now. Regularly communicate with Onboarding and Timesheets Teams. Create and maintain payroll reporting spreadsheets; prepare customized reports using the ADP Reporting Tool. Set up General Ledger (GL) accounts and track time-off accruals in ADP Workforce Now. Perform data analysis with Excel, using functions like pivot tables and VLOOKUPs. Facilitate correspondence for garnishments, wage attachments, and tax notices; manage compliance with ADP Smart Compliance. Review and amend payroll tax returns, including Forms 941, 940, W-2, 941-X, W-2C, and prepare ACA forms 1095C. Assist with HR functions, respond to inquiries from consultants and management, and handle employment verifications and compensation communications. Requirements Qualifications: 5+ years of payroll experience Skilled experience in Payroll and ADP Workforce Now/ADP Smart Compliance Demonstrated understanding of payroll tax review quarterly and annual federal and state payroll tax returns; forms 941, 940, W2, etc. Strong follow up and understanding of tax notice resolutions Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
