HVAC Technicians are mobile and use multiple trade skills such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical, locksmith, painting and roofing for a wide variety of customers in an assigned geographical territory. Technicians are provided a company van, tools and equipment. Technicians are based at their home address and access their daily route through a company provided iPad and iPhone. We offer opportunities for skill development through on the job training as well as professional training and education programs.

Job Title: HVAC Technician

Job Summary:

In a safe, efficient and professional manner, the Commercial HVAC Technician will support the Facility Manager in the preventative, corrective, and general maintenance of HVAC systems for the Client. Other duties include, but not limited to, daily assessments of systems, maintain a clean working environment, and other various duties as assigned by the Facilities Manager, while adhering to all safety and health standards. The Commercial HVAC Technician will be responsible for performing maintenance of HVAC equipment, production chillers and boilers, building controls located throughout various buildings, and kitchen refrigeration. Performing tests, rounds, and analysis of data to assure the proper functioning of equipment. Responsible for performing work according to manufacturing standards and following the change process of qualified core equipment and components.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performs preventative maintenance - on all base building and critical system equipment which includes but not limited to: coil cleanings assembling all tools, supplies and instruments necessary to complete the job, performing work with a minimum amount of disruption, conducting immediate clean-up of work area, completing the preventative task sheet, returning tools to workshop and unused supplies to store room and advising the Facilities Manager of any equipment problems. Maintains accurate and timely equipment operating logs, lubrication logs, HVACR equipment operation and maintenance manuals, inventory of filters and belts and spare parts.

  • Responds to heating and cooling problems (repair as necessary).Maintain, install, move, troubleshoot repair/ replacement of all related HVAC equipment included but not limited to: Compressors, condenser fan motors, blower motors, VAVs, FPB, split systems, exhaust fans, VFD’s, actuators, refrigerators, boilers, humidifiers, dehumidifiers, heat exchangers, furnaces, actuators, dampers, etc.

  • Monitors operation, adjusts and maintains refrigerant, heat exchangers, HVAC equipment and systems, chilled water, and air conditioning equipment; boilers, pumps, valves, piping, and filters; other mechanical and electrical equipment; records readings as necessary to ensure proper operation of equipment and notifies Facilities Manager or Lead Tech of any problems or malfunctions.

  • Assists other mechanics and operators with major repairs and maintenance of building and equipment. Performs other various duties as assigned.

  • Follows safety practices, and utilizes protective clothing and equipment as required by OSHA. Know the whereabouts of all emergency equipment (i.e. fire extinguishers, eyewash, and shower stations, first aid supplies, breathing apparatus, etc.)

  • Ensures accurate documentation of van and ladder inspections, monthly safety training courses in a timely manner.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED. Must have successfully completed formal training programs on HVAC operations.

  • Seven (7) or more year’s related experience on commercial roof top units (RTU’s) of up to 50 tons .

  • Must possess applicable certifications, licenses, and a valid driver's license. EPA Universal Refrigeration License

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Blueprint reading, familiar with Building Automation Systems (BAS) , utilization (CMMS) work order system to capture good notes, before and after pictures.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Work Environment:

Work in an environment where the following safety equipment is needed; steel toe shoes, hearing protection, noise protection, hardhat, eye protection, and hand protection. Abide by OSHA guidelines including lock-out/tag-out and HAZCOM guidelines and all other Viox/Customer driven safety initiatives.

Hours of work are solely defined and governed by business volume and contract schedules.

Ability to handle stressful situations and remain calm in the face of the customer and subordinates.
