UnitedHealth Group Pharmacy Care Technician - Remote in Utah or Idaho in Draper, Utah

As a Pharmacy Care Technician , you will be responsible for reviewing and validating patients’ medication when they are admitted to and discharged from a medical facility. The Pharmacy Care Technician is essential for ensuring there are no discrepancies in the medication patients are prescribed versus what they are taking. You will be working closely with pharmacists and caseworkers to ensure a patient’s smooth transition from hospital to home. The work hours required will be during normal business hours, Monday through Friday.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Review patient medication when they are admitted to and discharged from a medical facility

  • Perform telephonic outreach for medication history consults with patients as part of the medication reconciliation process

  • Work closely with pharmacists and caseworkers/social workers to confirm medication adherence and accuracy

  • Access, input, and retrieve prescription information from computer systems, providers, or patients

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED (or higher)

  • Utah state Pharmacy Technician license (with ability to obtain Idaho licensure within 30 days of hire)

  • National Pharmacy Technician Certification (PTCB)

  • 3+ years of pharmacy-related experience

  • Basic level of MS Office proficiency

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced Degree (i.e. Associates degree or Bachelor’s degree)

  • Experience in managed care pharmacy (Pharmacy Benefits Manager, Medicare Advantage)

  • Knowledge of Medicare part D and HIPAA

  • Experience using EMR systems

  • Ability to recognize potential drug discrepancies and barriers to adherence

  • Ability to identify and analyze drug data trends

  • Demonstrate accuracy, timeliness, organization, and, attention to detail

  • Bilingual (Spanish/English)
