Citi Commercial Banking – Credit Lending Management (CLM)-Credit Analyst

Join Citi’s Commercial Bank in Dubai as a CLM Credit Officer and contribute to the healthy growth of credit portfolio!

Credit Lending Management (CLM), in the 1st Line of Defense, house and consistently manage credit risk activities performed across its Citi Commercial Banking organization. CLMs objective is to provide integrated “end-to-end” credit underwriting, identification, measurement, management, and monitoring for Commercial Bank credit risk. CLM function provides analysis, greenlight, underwriting, first-line-of-defense credit approval and subsequent credit monitoring for Commercial Banking businesses.

The CLM Credit Analyst within Middle East, being responsible for all underwriting activities, in partnership with Coverage, Product and Risk. This role reports directly to Middle East CLM Head.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Executes, aligned with global and regional strategies, all responsibilities regarding underwriting, including, but not limited to:

  • Adoption of leading practices in credit analysis, underwriting, and monitoring, including the end-to-end underwriting process, from early origination discussions, to development of credit approval memos, and senior approval forums

  • Ensure Credit Approval Memo (CAM) packages are complete and accurate

  • Continuous assurance of health and appropriateness of the credit clients’ risk profile. Conducting Early Warning and Risk Management activities to take the right actions timely to ensure a healthy risk profile, including classification decisions and credit strategy.

  • Detailed reviews of financial data, projection modeling, stress testing, and perform other in-depth analysis

  • Responsible for on time completion of annual reviews, quarterly credit reviews, any ad-hoc reviews of existing customers

  • Follow the daily market updates and news, internal reports and relate them with assigned credit portfolio/pipeline for analysis

  • Facilitate relationships with key clients in Banking and Risk and with key control function

  • Support the MET CLM Head strategic initiatives/projects

  • Support VOE initiatives

SPECIFIC RISK EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience in and exposure to global credit risk management standards

  • Experience in structuring bilateral credit agreements, knowledge on complex credit products

  • Ability to provide strategic insights and strong sensitivity to macro and regulatory issues, and impact of such issues on the various Risk families, including operational and franchise risks

  • Proven ability to effectively engage with internal control functions including Internal Audit and Fundamental Credit Risk as well as with external audit

CLIENT RELATIONSHIPS / BUSINESS PARTNERSHIP:

  • Proven ability to understand nuances of local markets, local regulation, and the capabilities and practices of competitors

  • Navigates organizational complexity and breaks silos

  • Creates and sustains a network of strong partnerships with the business in all segments & geographies and other risk functions

  • Provides well-reasoned, balanced assessments of risk/return trade-offs associated with transactions and client relationships

  • Proven track record of partnering with global peers in leveraging and implementation of best practices

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s/University degree in Finance, Banking, Accounting or Economics

  • 5+ years risk/risk-related credit work experience in banking/financial institutions

  • Excellent written and spoken English and Arabic

  • Strong knowledge of accounting and its practical application in the credit underwriting process

  • Strong understanding of the Commercial Banking Business and Market

  • Experience in effectively engaging with internal control functions including Internal Audit and Fundamental Credit Risk as well as with external audit

  • Advanced presentation skills – adept at presenting effectively to audiences of various sizes and various constituencies
