Job Description

AECOM is seeking an Architect with strong recent experience of working with Transportation clients. The role will be based primarily in either our Belfast, Dublin or Dun Laoghaire offices and will require travel within UK+I. The candidate must be strong in technical design content and in design management, digital technologies, and design workflow. He/she will be expected to manage design activities and the production of design information. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of experience working on rail and/or aviation projects.

As a Senior/Project Architect you will lead architectural and multidisciplinary design teams with responsible for the technical delivery of a range of projects from bidding through to delivery. You will liaise closely with the wider UK&I Aviation and Rail teams.

Project/Design Responsibilities

  • General duties on a range of projects and design stages, including design, detailing, drawing, contract administration, site inspections, etc.

  • Acting as project leader on appropriate projects

  • Presenting to clients and prospective clients

  • General administrative and management duties appropriate to architectural practice

  • You will assist in the preparation of design work and presentations, the production of the technical delivery of projects including working drawings, specification writing and contract documentation and help in the development of presentations and projectsEnsuring Safety in Design principles are applied throughout all design stages of a project

  • Support Directors with operational responsibilities which includes development and implementing Technical Excellence initiatives, management of resources (HR), training initiatives (CPD)

  • Resource forecasting and management

  • Manage and produce a range of business reporting activities

  • Support and develop staff through guidance, mentoring and leadership of their development

  • Ensures the latest software / techniques are utilised to increase productivity and training opportunities for staff are made available

Specific Skills Required:

  • Must be proficient in the use of Revit.

  • It would be advantageous to have a working knowledge of parametric modelling software, Rhino/Grasshopper, Solidworks, etc, although not essential. (Training can also be provided).

  • It would also be useful to have a working knowledge of Sketchup, Photoshop, InDesign, Powerpoint, Lumion and other presentation and render software. (Training can also be provided).

  • Familiarity with working in Common Data Environments (CDE) like B360, ProjectWise, AutoDesk Docs, etc.

  • Creative, practical, adaptable and enthusiastic.

  • Ability to demonstrate attention to detail.

  • Ability to think in a methodical way to design, plan and organize parts of projects.

  • English language proficient, holding good communication skills to present information in speech, drawings and reports.

  • Candidates must be eligible to work in the UK & Ireland.

Minimum Requirements:

  • RIAI or ARB registration (or equivalent European or International qualification).

  • Experience in working on major transportation infrastructure projects.

Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience within a multi-disciplinary consultancy

  • Proficient in the use of Revit
