Job Title: Electrician

Job Summary: Perform electrical operations, maintenance, and repairs. Including racking and operating 34.5kVAC and 4160VAC breakers. Position will include growth into electronic and controls troubleshooting. May be asked to assist with plant mechanical maintenance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Understands and complies with state and federal OSHA regulations.

  • Must become familiar with, and remain familiar with, all aspects of the company’s safety and environmental policies and practices. Must utilize safe work practices, which are consistent with the letter and spirit of these policies, and participate in programs aimed at increasing personal safety and environmental awareness.

  • Performs maintenance on a variety of electrical equipment in the Cogeneration Plant and Chilled Water Plant.

  • Oversees, with Lead Electrician and Maintenance Supervisor, the Campus Electrical Distribution System and calls in High Voltage Contractor when necessary to perform switching or pole maintenance.

  • Utilizes a Central Maintenance Management System for planned and emergent maintenance.

  • Maintains specialized electrical tool and equipment inventories.

  • Will rotate and be on a call rotation with the Lead Electrician, to provide rapid response to campus during Medium and High Voltage Electrical Issues. The ability to work overtime if needed during campus emergencies is required.

  • Performance of additional duties or projects as assigned for career development (e.g., safety training, equipment training, and special projects as requested by the Plant Manager and/or Client)

  • Ensures all installations and work performed meets the current NEC, NESC, and NETA standards and requirements.

Qualifications:

  • State of New Hampshire Journeyman Electrician License or better preferred. Will consider an Apprentice or Trained Individual with industrial electrical systems experience.

  • Must be able to work in a power plant environment on a university campus.

  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.

  • Must have a valid driver’s license.

  • Must have the ability to work with specialized electrical tools, test equipment, hand tools, power tools, be able to lift 50 pounds, and work in a variety of hot/cold/wet inclement weather conditions.

  • Must have strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. A thorough understanding of electrical prints and the ability to recommend and make necessary repairs.

  • Familiarity with and the ability to maintain, troubleshoot, install and repair a variety of industrial electrical equipment including motors, generators, and compressors and their associated controls.
