Position Summary
This position will initially be in the VMC Emergency / Primary Care clinic working at reception desk where you will greet, register, and
direct clients and their animals to the correct waiting area; creates, reviews, and updates electronic client and patient health records; establishes patient appointments in electronic scheduling system; collects payments at the time of patient discharge and accurately documents the payments in an electronic record; Also will be in the call center receiving and routing telephone calls and taking and relaying messages; communicates and listens carefully to provide outstanding customer service. Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills
Knowledge normally acquired through a high school education; six months to one year of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in a medical office setting or in a clinical setting performing routine health assessment tests; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. May require experience in the use word processing and database software, a specified medical course such as Nurse Health Aid and Phlebotomy, or Medical Billing and Medical Terminology experience. May require knowledge of electronic medical record and patient scheduling systems. May require certification as a medical assistant.
Desired Qualifications
Experience in a fast-paced customer service setting; excellent customer service and proven empathy skills.
