Position Summary

The Michigan State University College of Human Medicine (CHM) Office of Medical Education Research and Development (OMERAD) seeks a Project Administrator to join our team. This role reports to the Director of OMERAD and coordinates with the Assistant Dean of Accreditation and Program Evaluation.

Primary responsibilities for this position include project management for high impact projects related to medical education development, evaluation, and accreditation including collaborating with faculty to develop project goals, objectives, and plans; tracking and analyzing projects’ performance; interpreting and disseminating programmatic findings; and, prepares reports and designs presentations; serves as a liaison to administrators, staff and third party/vendors in the coordination and implementation of projects and analyzes surveys and other data evaluate existing systems and recommend courses of action; responsible for budget and finances for OMERAD, complies reports, create budget projections and participate in the annual budgeting process; oversee and coordinates various human resources processes and provides administrative support for the chair and faculty.

This position is located in East Lansing on campus in East Fee Hall. The position supports a hybrid schedule with required days in person days in office. Normal standard work schedule Monday through Friday 8am-5pm with occasional nights or weekends. This position may require travel within the state to support the functions of the role.

Minimum Requirements

knowledge equivalent to that which would normally be acquired in a four year college degree; three to five years of related and progressively more expansive work experience in a field related to the position including planning and managing projects; performing human resources functions such as search committees and appointment management; financial/budget experience; communications content management (written, verbal, digital) experience with word processing, database, spreadsheet, presentation, calendaring software, desktop publishing and/or project management software; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Desired Qualifications

In addition to the requirements above, a degree in business or related field, and previous experience providing administrative, finance or related support in a higher education setting is desired. The ideal candidate will have high proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint software; the ability to manage projects; excellent grammar, writing, and editing skills; strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills; excellent interpersonal skills and verbal communication; ability to work independently and with confidence to take initiative and to be proactive. The Project Administrator must have sensitivity to and appropriate handling of confidential information; be detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy, resourcefulness, and efficiency; the desire to go above and beyond; the ability to interact with varied constituents in a timely, courteous, and professional manner; the ability to problem solve, be adaptable to change, be comfortable using and learning new technology, software applications, and processes; the ability to work under pressure with frequent interruptions; and the ability to function independently with little direct supervision.
