What we do:
The Federal Reserve Bank of New York Cash & Custody Function has a long history of innovation and leadership as a high-volume processor of U.S. Banknotes. The facility utilizes state-of-the-art automation to support operations and controls. The Cash & Custody Function pays out and receives deposits of currency from depository institutions (DIs), central banks and other governmental counterparties. Incoming deposits are processed to cull out unfit and suspected counterfeit notes and remaining currency is repackaged for recirculation back to the depository institutions.
The New York Fed – Cash & Custody Function is looking for an Automation Technician to support the day-today operations of the Cash automated vault storage and retrieval systems, including maintaining and repairing a variety of automated, electrical, and mechanical material handling equipment. After an extended training period, this will be a 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM shift with the possibility of overtime and weekend work as needed.
Your role as Automation Technician:
Repair and maintain sophisticated material handling equipment -- automated guided vehicles (AGVs) and storage and retrieval vehicles (SRVs)
Perform procedures that require lifting/moving 50+ pounds, working in tight/enclosed spaces, working at elevations of up to 60 ft., climbing stairs/ladders, and operating heavy material handling equipment.
Assist the cash operation in an efficient start-up and end-of-day close by closely monitoring, preventing, and troubleshooting delays related to AGVs and SRVs
Document all preventive maintenance performed to equipment - Document production problems and escalate issues to management and report to vendor in a timely manner.
Assist in a variety of ad hoc projects related to equipment such as upgrading equipment parts, circuit boards, installing electronic sensors or replacing floorboards.
Perform preventive maintenance on equipment such as - lubricating gears, bearings, guide rails and shafts and clean and adjust timing and coordination mechanisms.
Manage parts inventory and order parts as necessary.
Collaborate with operations staff, internal building maintenance staff, and outside vendors on various projects.
Utilize mechanics' such as - hand tools, oscilloscopes, voltage meters, soldering irons, and grinders.
Compliance with all equipment safety rules and guidelines
Test new software functionality when necessary.
What we are looking for:
Degree or certification in mechanical or electrical field or equivalent work experience.
Approximately 3-5 years of experience repairing and maintaining complex electrical equipment and applying sound mechanical diagnostics and electrical repair skills.
Ability to Lift or move 50+ pounds, carry, walk, stand, sit, climb stairs/ladders work at elevated or enclosed spaces, operate heavy material handling equipment.
Commitment to completing mandatory safety training as required to maintain certifications for lift equipment (i.e., power ox, scissor lift equipment, etc.), and fall protection.
Familiarity with mechanics' hand tools, oscilloscopes, voltage meters, soldering irons, and grinders.
Willingness to work flexible hours, including overtime and weekends.
Able to balance multiple priorities and work under very tight deadlines.
Comfortable utilizing technology for data input and reporting is preferred.
Salary Range: $65900 - $89600 / year
