Product Quality & Reliability is a cross site team (size: +/- 16 persons) that is responsible for the quality and reliability of new modules and systems, for example Titan microscopes. Our team is involved in multiple module and large-scale system programs in parallel. Besides quality and reliability for regular products we also work on Non-Standard Orders to deliver customer specific solutions.

The Position

The PQR (Product Quality and Reliability) Engineer is responsible for ensuring the quality and reliability of products through the implementation of various processes and methodologies. You will set the conditions for designing high-reliability systems. Bring the product reliability to the next level, with goal to further improve uptimes and to reduce warranty costs. And play a meaningful role in defining reliability requirements and budgets, planning reliability verifications, and reviewing supplier readiness.

You possess extensive knowledge on product quality processes, which you use to train and coach less experienced PQR engineers. You will be able to lead improvements and build a strategy to increase the competence of the PQR team.

Key responsibilities:

  • Key focus on driving quality in System Integration and Module projects.

  • Use the knowledge on Product Quality processes FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) and SRA (Safety Risk Assessment) to train and coach.

  • Collaborate with the system architect to define verifiable requirements.

  • Develop and implement a review of requirements, test plans, and test results to ensure design compliance.

  • Provide recommendations on project progress based on project overview reports.

  • Support design teams to implement Design for Reliability.

  • Apply statistical methods to develop reliability models.

  • Define reliability requirements and budgets on both system and module levels.

  • Drive the development of test plans for reliability testing (test to fail) and reliability verification (test to pass) by using statistical methods and analyze the results.

  • Review supplier readiness by analyzing supplier data such as FMEA, Reliability Requirements, and reliability test results.

  • Initiate improvement initiatives and lead improvement teams to improve the quality of PQA and Reliability deliverables.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will possess the following combination of education and experience.

  • University degree (BSc or MSc) degree in Physics, Engineering, or related field.

  • 8+ years preferred of proven experience.

  • Experience with developing and testing of low volume, complex high-tech systems.

  • Experience with the different development subject areas (hardware, software, mechanics, mechatronics, and physics).

  • Design for Six Sigma or DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control) Black Belt certified.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Shown experience in inspiring change and leading improvement initiatives.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in English, Dutch is big plus.
