Major/Essential Functions:
Supervises and teaches residents and medical students in classroom and clinical settings.
Works in close conjunction with other hand surgery colleagues to develop a long-term hand division strategic plan
Performs Hand and Microvascular call coverage at local hospitals
Provides patient care in the inpatient and outpatient settings affiliated with a Level 1 Trauma Center.
Engages in advancement of scientific knowledge through research and/or scholarship.
Serves the academic community through participation in institutional governance, such as committee work and other administrative duties.
Contributes to the community through academically-related public service complementary to the institutional mission.
Maintains a faculty appointment in good standing in the Department of Surge1y (for candidates whose primary training is in Plastic Surgery or General Smgery)
Ensures compliance with HIPAA and billing regulations.
Adheres to institutional and departmental policies and procedures.
Demonstrates professionalism in accordance with the Paul L. Foster School of Medicine's Declaration of Faculty Professional Responsibility.
Upholds and promotes the value-based culture of TTUHSC El Paso.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in Microvascular Surgery
Successful completion of an ACGME-accredited Orthopaedic Surgery, Plastic Surgery or General Surgery
Residency Program
A) Board certification in Orthopaedic surgery by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, or
B) Board Certification in General surgery by the American Board of Surgery, or
C) Board Certification in Plastic surgery by the American Board of Plastic Surgery
Board certification in Orthopaedic surgery of the Hand by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery
Bilingual English/Spanish
Emerging or established regional or national reputation for the rank of Associate Professor or higher

Required Qualifications:
MD. or D.O. degree
One of the following:
A) Successful completion of an ACGME-accredited Orthopaedic Surgery, General Surgery or Plastic Surgery Residency Program, or
B) For truly exceptional academic orthopaedic surgeons who have received graduate medical education outside the United States or Canada, completion of an Orthopaedic Surgery Residency Program with documentation of eligibility for board certification through the Academic Pathway for the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery
Successful completion of an ACGME-accredited Hand Surgery Fellowship Program
Texas medical licensure, or eligibility for medical licensure in Texas
Qualifications for secondary faculty appointment in the Department of Surgery for the candidates whose primary training is in General Surgery or Plastic Surgery
