U.S. Coast Guard Aircraft Electrician (Night Shift), WG-2892-08/10 in Elizabeth City, North Carolina

Summary This position is located in Department of Homeland Security, United States Coast Guard, Aviation Logistics Center (ALC), Short Range Recovery (SRR) Product Line, SRR Programmed Depot Maintenance (PDM) Branch, Elizabeth City, North Carolina. Responsibilities The primary purpose of the position is to perform aircraft electrician journey level duties and to train others in that trade. Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard Team. Typical work assignments at the WG-10 level include: Performing the disassembly, inspection, adjustment, repair, overhaul, modification and testing of Aircraft electrical components. Maintaining test equipment, tools and HAZ-MAT. Troubleshooting, modifying, repairing, overhauling and performing final functional and operational tests of complex electrical systems, components, and accessories. Training employees with lesser skills; demonstrating or explaining proper techniques, method of operation, and safety practices. At the WG-08 level, the employee will perform intermediate level aircraft electrical tasks. As more experience is gained, supervision will become less progressively detailed and the employee will be expected to perform additional tasks with increasing proficiency and independence, and is expected to progress to the higher level job. Requirements Conditions of Employment U.S. citizenship is required. The applicant is subject to pre-appointment and random drug testing. Applicant is required to meet the physical requirements of the position. Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered for Selective Service. Occasional Temporary Additional Duty (TAD) is required. Subject to overtime or recall. Rotating shift work may be required. May be required to fly on Coast Guard aircraft. Night Shift Position. Ability To Do the Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision(SCREEN-OUT ELEMENT) Knowledge of Electrical Equipment Theory and Instruments (Electrical, Electronics) Used in Shop and Trade Practices Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic) Ability to Use Electrical Drawings Ability to Use and Maintain Hand Tools (Electrical Work) Trouble shooting (electrical) Applicants must have journey level experience in the electrical trade troubleshooting, modifying, repairing, maintaining and testing complex aircraft electrical systems, components, and accessories with intricate wiring.
