Position is located: Northern Light Maine Coast Hospital in Ellsworth, Maine

Work Type: Full Time

40 hours per week

Work Schedule: 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM

This position is eligible for a $10,000 sign on bonus for new graduates and a $15,000 sign on bonus for Techs with 2 years or more of experience.

Current employees of any Northern Light Health Organization or those with service breaks less than a year are not eligible for bonus

Summary:

Under the direction of the Director of Imaging, the Sonographer performs diagnostic ultrasound procedures at a technical level not requiring direct supervision.

Responsibilities:

• Establishes and maintains ethical working relationships and good rapport with all hospital departments and provider offices • Ability to scan on average 10 patients per shift, including both outpatient and inpatient. • Demonstrates appropriate skills and ability to assess, treat and/or care for patients based on the patient’s physical condition. • Correlates clinical history with the test performed and consults with referring physician regarding patient’s history and decision of appropriate exam required. • Performs all types of exams including general sonography, breast, OB, and vascular studies. • Performs biopsy procedures with the Imaging nurse and radiologist. • Coordinates schedule with Imaging Services Coordinators and charge nurses to complete departmental workload in a timely fashion. • Maintain order and cleanliness of department. • Complete all proper documentation to ensure timely results. • Recommend action necessary for quality improvement. • Operate ultrasound unit independently. • Show flexibility in covering shifts to accommodate departmental and patient needs. • Other duties as needed and required.

Other Information:

ARDMS registered in Vascular for Vascular Lab, OB/GYN and Abdomen for General Ultrasound. Has clinical experience of adequate length to become proficient in the art of Medical Sonography.
