The Hilliard Corporation Quality Engineer (Weld) in ELMIRA, New York

Title: Quality Engineer (Weld) The Quality Engineer (Weld) shall be responsible for ensuring proper testing, inspection, and auditing products at various stages of the production process to maintain quality. The primary area of responsibility for the Quality Engineer (Weld) shall be to ensure compliance within the shops on processes, finished goods, procedures, working within the parameters set forth in the Quality Management System. The duties shall include but not be limited to the following:Manages all quality related issues within the assigned manufacturing teams and associated support departments.Works with teams to identify root causes and develop/implement effective permanent corrective actions to address product/process quality issues.Works with stakeholders to resolve quality issues that arise as quickly and efficiently as possible to prevent compromising quality & safety standards.Participates in cross-functional teams responsible for the development of new products and processes required to exceed customer expectations.Work with Documentation Engineer completing put through job travelers.Assist inspectors and auditors in performing quality functions and inspections.Perform and log contract reviews as needed.Understand customer requirements and specifications during review. Review shop packets and deliver to line inspectors.Create and submit ITP and QP plans for customers. Initiate NCR when deemed necessary.Create and plot PMI mapping for XRF requirements as needed.Final inspections recording customer specific information.Demonstrate efficiency to measure and record dimensions as required using common measuring equipment.Requirements:BS Degree in a technical / engineering related field or equivalent experience.Code welding experience, welding inspection experience or certified training in welding and/or      inspection.Working knowledge of ASME code. Accepts direction and projects from Quality Manager and the Director of Quality. Fosters cooperative and open communication will all personnel and departments.Must be computer literate in Microsoft Office; experience with AS400 and Infor is a plus.Be able to work effectively in an ever-changing, fast-paced environment.Engages interest and participation while working collaboratively with others.Be able to work independently with minimal supervision.Demonstrates strong knowledge of quality management systems (ISO 9001); experience with APQP, PPAP and DFMEA/PFMEA development a plus.Demonstrates strong knowledge / application of quality and continuous improvement tools.Demonstrates the ability to read / interpret engineering drawings, knowledge of GD&T standards a plus.
