The Business and Strategic Operations (BSO) Lead will report directly to the Head of Americas of GCO. The incumbent will:
Be accountable for the regional business operations of, including planning, developing, leading, and managing business strategy, resources, budget, vendor management/oversight, and goal settings
Drive the regional optimization of process, resource management, organization and decision-making
Lead optimization of assigned GCO process, organization and decision making.
Lead development & tracking of goals & key performance indicators for GCO
Lead key strategic initiatives for Clinical Operations, Development, and/or Corporate, and develop organizational & communication framework with/for stakeholders, leadership members and employees
Measure the overall health of the organization and develop key performance indicators for GCO, Americas
Help develop a culture of learning, continuous improvement, and individual and organizational growth
Essential Functions of the job:
Leadership & Governance
Act as an advisor to and extension of the GCO Regional Head and Leadership Team
Responsible for operational management of the project management, including stakeholder management across functions
Create and lead a robust regional governance for Regional GCO team that makes time, information, and decision processes more effective across the world; Drive strategic America’s Leadership Team decision-making;
Provide insights and analyses on the company’s regional operations to GCO and R&D leadership
Plan and execute key GCO initiatives, and assess impact
Ensure appropriate scoping of projects & contribute expertise/insights to develop, implement and lead key strategic initiative/plans.
Provide internal project management support as necessary. Act as project leader to plan and execute the assigned projects.
Facilitate alignment with key stakeholders and ensure communication across project teams.
Plan, track, and manage project tasks, milestones, dependencies, and identify elements on critical path
Coordinate project team meeting schedules, prepare agendas and minutes, track action items and progress reports according to project management best practices.
Resourcing & Budget
Forecast and manage GCO resources and budgets- in collaboration with GCO functions, HR and Finance-
Engage in strategic discussions and provide recommendations based on analysis with quantifiable opportunities to drive optimization
GCO Performance & Communications
Develop and Report comprehensive KPIs for Development and GCO; assess risks and provide recommendation to improve overall organization’s performance. Implement approved recommendations.
Support the development of publications, presentations, executive level slides, and any other internal and external communications for GCO
Responsible for the execution of the GCO communication strategies, messaging platforms, content assets and multi-channel engagements
Business Transformation & Change Management
Plan and lead key regional GCO and/or corporate initiatives, and provide internal project management support to sub teams, as necessary
Responsible for Change Management and stakeholder engagement strategies to encapsulate impact of change(s) on people, process, and technology; Apply a structured methodology; Support training as necessary.
Vendor Management
Partner with cross-functional leaders to define and implement the sourcing vision and regional strategy for GCO and create best-in-class vendor management/oversight capability.
Lead the executive management of selected partners through implementation of robust governance and oversight processes across regional GCO and Global Clinical Development, in clinical and a special focus on GCO non-clinical vendors
Supervisory Responsibilities:
May have direct supervision of regional BSO staff
Mentor and coach regional GCO associates
Education Required:
Advanced degrees required in Life sciences or business with a Master/MBA in operations preferred, and at least 10 years’ experience in biotech, pharmaceuticals or a related field in the biotech/pharmaceutical industry.
At least 2+ years of experience leading large scale strategic initiatives in the pharmaceutical, biotech or related
Oncology experience highly preferred.
Computer Skills: Efficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint, and Outlook
Other Qualifications:
Fluent in written and verbal English.
Excellent presentation and verbal communications skills
Proven leadership in determining needs of the business and taking initiatives
Proven track in change management, managing conflict, internal and external
Strong project management skills – organized, disciplined, comfortable following up on actionable / holding people accountable, able to think ahead and catch problems before they arise
Time management a must; ability to partner across all time zones
Excellent understanding of models, frameworks, tools and solution to increase leadership effectiveness
Ability to deal with ambiguity and make decisions with a high-growth, rapidly evolving environment
Strong analytic and strategic thinking skills with attention to details
Travel: up to 25%
