TEKsystems Site Reliability Engineer (DATA) in Encino, California

Description:

As a Data Reliability Engineer, you will use your knowledge of the Azure or AWS platform, messaging, cloud technologies including relational databases, document databases, containerization and container orchestration, and pipelines to translate development requirements for Azure Kubernetes Service or Elastic Kubernetes Service (AWS); Azure SQL or AWS RDS; and MSK, Kafka or Confluent Cloud into actionable implementations. You will implement and maintain build and release pipelines. You will support MSK or Confluent Cloud clusters and various databases based on evolving technology changes, in collaboration with the development team, and evaluate and develop new means of expanding observability for application and infrastructure reliability and resilience. Implement, verify, and support data systems and integrations (relational, NoSQL, messaging, cache). Develop and support GitLab and Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines with specific focus on data. Develop automation to support data activities (replication, backup, audit). Establish and socialize Data Reliability Engineering (DRE) standards throughout the SRE organization. Provide guidance for data-related configuration management. Provide support for tuning, queries, maintenance, and other data engineering activities. Provide guidance and development support for Liquibase, SSDT, and other deployment automation. Define, implement, and maintain message topics and ACLs in Kafka/MKS/Confluent Cloud. Support and implement global, highly available DevOps solutions to support always-on architectures. Develop and maintain Terraform configuration files to deploy infrastructure. Develop task extensions for Azure DevOps. Monitor and determine root cause analysis for build or release failures and coordinate with development teams actively to create resolution. Review and contribute to data architecture efforts. Participate in security and governance audits. Proactively monitor and remediate security issues. Collaborate with development teams to enact more secure and reliable implementation patterns. Develop minimum-set working documentation for active processes and facilitate team reviews. Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for operations. Learn and grow new skills on a daily basis. Train and support other team members.

Preferred Qualifications

• Have at least 2 years' work history in a primary role as DevOps, System Reliability Engineer, or Data Engineer.

• Have at least 4 years’ development and administrative experience with SQL, Kafka, and document databases.

• Have at least 1 year experience administering Azure or AWS resources via portal/console, CLI, or Resource Manager.

• Have at least 1 year direct experience with Agile, including specific knowledge of sprint planning or backlog grooming.

• Demonstrate excellent written and verbal skills.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION/SKILLS

• Independent thinking, critical thinking, transparent communication, active participation, service-oriented approach.

• Have at least 2 years' direct and recent experience with PowerShell in the context of build/release automation in Azure DevOps API; or 2 years’ direct and recent experience with bash shell scripts in the context of deployment automation.

• Have at least 2 years' direct experience administering GitLab; or Azure DevOps/VSTS/TFS 2015 (or later) build and release pipelines, administering permissions, and configuring Azure DevOps organizations.

• DevSecOps experience (Azure policy, managed identity, network security groups).

• Experience with networking, routing, and DNS.

• Experience with relational databases and SQL Server Data Tools (SSDT).

• Strong curiosity about how Disney delivers the Magic and a desire to be a part of it.

Compensation is tied to the Colorado market for jobs

performed in Colorado. Other locations may be subject to variances based on locations-related factors.
