If you really want to make a difference – make it with us

Siemens Mobility is a separately managed company of Siemens AG and has been a leading supplier in the field of mobility for over 160 years. Our core business includes rail vehicles, rail automation and electrification solutions, turnkey systems and related services. We have always been very innovative in making traveling faster, safer and more comfortable. Today, we need new solutions to new challenges such as climate change and rising populations worldwide. That's what drives us. That's why we shape mobility with passion, always being one step ahead. Through digitalization, we make infrastructures smart and create opportunities that get us from A to B sustainably and seamlessly. Our 38,200 employees are pioneers in mobility who help to keep the world moving.

What do you contribute?

We supply our international customers with locomotives that are used for cross-border freight and passenger transport. Our product platforms are very successful due to the cross-border application possibilities; we are constantly developing and optimising country corridors and equipment for this purpose. The operational safety of our products is largely guaranteed by the integrated train control systems. And this is where you come in:

  • You will lead our cross-location, European engineering team for the integration of the on-board train control systems in our locomotives.

  • As a technical and disciplinary manager, you are responsible for the strategic development and expansion of the specialist group, for the further development of the integration process and the cooperation with the specialists involved. Your primary goal is to continuously improve the cooperation and the workflow and to further expand the performance.

  • As the main contact person, you will design the working methods to bring the product and project requirements from legal and customer contracts as well as internal requirements into our developments. You will set the terms of reference and responsibilities in your cross-site team and define the work and development objectives within the framework of our product strategy.

  • Your responsibility is demanding, as we use a wide variety of train control systems in our products. Our team of experts in engineering therefore comprises a mid-double-digit number of employees at several locations in Europe. In your role as a manager, you will be responsible for shaping the expansion and cooperation of this team. To this end, you will use the networks and contacts of our business unit and will be the face of your department both internally and externally.

  • You will focus on the structural and methodological development of the team, further develop the management, personnel and location structure and focus on the further development of the work organisation.

What do you bring along?

  • Your basis is a completed master's degree in electrical or mechanical engineering.

  • You have many years of professional experience in the field of train control systems - ideally in vehicle integration of ETCS plus standard national systems in multi-system rail vehicles, but at least in the development of on-board systems for modern European train control systems.

  • You know the market and supplier situation and are confident in your knowledge of the current legislation and standards for European train control systems (EN 50128, EN 50129 and EN 50657). You are methodically and practically familiar with the clear definition, validation and verification of requirements in the environment of safety-relevant software and hardware development.

  • You have knowledge / experience of the vehicle integration of commercially available ETCS train control systems from the suppliers Siemens, Alstom/Bombardier, Thales and national European products.

  • You organise business contacts with internal and external interface partners, customers and suppliers in a structured and professional manner. You are open to a corresponding travel activity (20%).

  • You consciously organise the working methods in presence, hybrid meetings and remote work for yourself and your employees. You organise communication across several locations and take care of modern, efficient meeting culture and team development in hybrid working environments. You are therefore experienced in facilitating team meetings and appointments with clients and suppliers and have a clear systematic approach to defining work tasks, coordinating them and following them up.

  • If you already have experience in the application of agile methods in project management, this is desirable.
