Performs a wide range of diagnostic procedures utilizing a magnetic resonance scanner. Performs imaging/therapeutic services and associated patient care which support the Radiology Department's mission to provide diagnostic information for the subsequent treatment of patients at WVU Hospital.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE 1. High School Diploma or equivalent. 2. MRI Certification through ARRT or ARMRIT within 1 year of hire. 3. West Virginia State Licensure as an MRI Tech, or applicable state licensure where services will be performed (excluding Pennsylvania). 4. Obtain certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire.
PREFERREDQUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE: 1. ARRT Certification: Radiography EXPERIENCE: 1. One (1) year experience in working in MRI

- Maintains an expertise in anatomy, physiology and pathology relative to imaging in order to optimize the procedure and ensure patient care/safety
- Performs imaging procedures based on assessment of the status of the patient, request of the service, and imaging protocols. Monitored by periodic Image Evaluations and Supervision
- Ensures MRI Safety precautions to patients, families, co-workers and any other individuals that may come in contact with the MRI scan room area
- Assesses patient's needs and provides imaging related to comfort, hygiene and range of motion and provides support accordingly
- Prepares contrast agents which are utilized for the MRI procedure according to procedural guidelines and protocols.
- Educates patients regarding MRI procedures and contrast media by explaining the procedure and answering questions accordingly
- Promotes the team approach to providing Radiology services by positively interacting with the technical, support, nursing, residents and medical staff.
- Engages in problem solving, crisis management and systems implementation throughout the hospital to promote and support efficient, high quality, cost effective patient care.
- Instructs MRI / Radiography students as needed in support of the radiology education program
