Maritz Project Accountant in Fenton, Missouri

To be the primary point of contact for all project related financial functions as it relates to: establishing and maintaining project files, cost tracking, project forecasting/reconciliation, invoice preparation, project scope changes, monitoring cash flow, working with project management and account teams to monitor the performance of projects by providing analysis of project data, compliance with client contracts, and providing the client with an accurate and timely final invoicing.

Primary Responsibilities

45% Financial Management: Provide effective financial management to assigned projects/responsibilities ensuring the forecast is accurate, monitoring costs and revenue recognition and putting effective financial management tools into the hands of the assigned Project Manager. Be prepared for, and lead, monthly financial review meetings, providing proper follow-up.

30% Process and Contract Compliance: Perform all tasks and activities in accordance with established processes and procedures, and in compliance with the contractual obligations set forth in key documents such as: Master Service Agreement (MSA), Statement of Work (SOW), Project Change Acknowledgements (PCA), other Addendums or Exhibits. Responsible to read and understand the contract(s), and to act in accordance with them. Escalate contract deviations as applicable. Maintains all required financial documentation for GAAP, internal and external audits. May work with corporate audit department on all internal, external and client audits as requested.

25% Cash Flow Optimization: Optimize cash flow for Maritz by invoicing timely, accurately, and providing sufficient information on invoices to assist clients in paying invoices as quickly as possible. Responsible to load invoice data into a third party payment systems, make recommendations on payment terms and/or invoicing frequency changes, and introducing deposit billing structures to improve the overall cash flow position for Maritz, as applicable. Work with client, account team and Accounts Receivable to collect payment of past due invoices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or general business preferred; or equivalent work experience

  • 2-4 years proven proficiency in the job tasks of the project accountant role Strong attention to detail

  • Solid working knowledge of financial practices, principles, processes and systems in the Project Accountant role

  • Proven experience with revenue recognition, gross margin calculations, forecasts, and complex reconciliations Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel spreadsheets required.

  • Proficiency with Oracle based accounting systems a plus

  • Strong oral and written communication skills and a solid contributor on cross functional teams

  • Ability to travel to support assigned project up to 5%
