IBM Server Services Specialist - Intel/VMWare in Florenceville, New Brunswick

Our Infrastructure Specialists are responsible for keeping up with these latest and greatest of these changes and using their expertise to deliver solutions that meet the needs of our customers and products.

Your Role and Responsibilities

This role is for a System Administrators who support Intel/VMWare server platforms, primarily at the Windows/ESXi OS level, in providing day to day (problem/change), security compliance, and project support for a commerical account.

This includes:

  • Problem Management - response, analysis, determination, resolution, root cause analysis, and oncall off hour support.

  • Change Management - plan, schedule, create, execute/implement, and understanding of the process and tools.

  • Server Backup/Restore support.

  • Security compliance - APAR patching, User ID management, health check remediation, server build/hardening, and audit support. Patching RCP.

  • Update/upgrade OS by requests and all related works and reporting pkgs update for the production servers and was in the on-call rotation as well.

  • Managing our ticket queues, such for Service Requests/Change Management and incidents.

  • Follow up managing subscription for servers in all tiers.


Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Intel server architecture and technologies (Dell/HP/Lenovo preferred)- 2-5yrs.

  • Windows server OS (32 and 64 bit) versions 2008 to 2019- 2-5yrs.

  • MS Active Directory, group policy, security components- 2-5yrs.

  • VMware ESxi environments versions 6.0 and higher-2-5yrs.

  • Experience in working with complementing support tools/applications such as; AntiVirus software (Trend Micro or Symantec); Monitoring tools, Backup and recovery tools (TSM).

  • Must demonstrate excellent organization and communication skills. ITIL Foundation knowledge.

  • Problem and Change Management.

  • Patch Management.

  • On-call 24x7 rotation.

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Working knowledge of other VMWare products such as Site Recovery Manager (SRM) or NSX is also desirable.

  • Experience with following protocols preferred: DNS, DHCP, SNMP, SMTP, FTP, Secure FTP, HTTP, TCP/IP.

  • Ansible

  • Scripting skills.

  • Familiarity with SAN Technology.

Must have the ability to work in Canada without sponsorship.
