Summary

Repair tooling by utilizing manual mills or related equipment. Work to meet deadlines of the department in a safe and efficient manner. Manage the daily cleanliness of the repair department and your machine and workspace. Must be mechanically inclined. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

  • Read blueprint or job order for repair specifications such as dimensions and tolerances, and tooling instructions such as fixtures, feed rates, cutting speeds, depth of cut, and determines sequence of operations.
  • Selects, positions, and secures tool in toolholder (chuck, collet, or toolpost). Change tools; adjust heights and tool comps to maintain required quality output of machine.
  • Observes operation of machine and inspects products during the machining operation to determine if parts meet specifications, complying with established standards and methods for inspection, testing, evaluation and calibration. This includes filling out the appropriate inspection sheet.
  • Sets up fixture or feeding device, starts machine, and turns hand wheel to feed tool to workpiece or vice versa, and engages feed.
  • Maintain equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; reports need for machine repairs.
  • Work as a team within your department to meet overall deadlines of incoming repair orders.

Ability to read and understand blueprints including GD&T tolerance with profile tolerance preferred. Must be willing to work in a manufacturing environment. 

 

Education and/or Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent

Language Skills

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. 
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Mathematical Skills

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
