Joint Activities Information Technology Cybersecurity Specialist (Information Security) in Fort Liberty, North Carolina

Responsibilities Provides support, administration, and the maintenance necessary on a wide array of technologies to ensure effective and efficient system performance and security. Assist with efforts to conceptualize, design, procure, and/or build secure IT systems. Keep abreast of technological advances regarding capabilities designed to assist in the identification, analysis, and mitigation of threats to information technology systems. Provide expert technical guidance and oversight regarding the employment and usage of cyberspace capabilities. Act as a technical advisor during the software development life-cycle performing testing and validation in accordance with organizational guidance, policies, and standards. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level in the Federal service which includes applying cybersecurity principles, concepts, and standards, as well as current and future needs and trends; providing technical advice and project management oversight regarding IT system performance and security initiatives; and implementing applications software within an organization and coordinating systems design, installation, and support. Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone, no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Education Additional Information This announcement uses the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce direct hire authority to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to certain positions in the competitive service.
