Robert Half Sr Manager - State and Local Tax in Fort Worth, Texas

Description

We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Senior State and Local Tax Manager in Fort Worth, Texas. The role falls within the private equity industry and will primarily involve managing various aspects of state and local income/business tax compliance and controversy matters. The role will be instrumental in leading teams of seniors, staff accountants, and paraprofessionals in client engagements, and will require a high level of expertise in multi-state income tax returns for various entities. Responsibilities:

• Lead teams in client engagements focusing on all aspects of state and local income/business tax compliance and controversy matters.

• Provide top-level review of federal and multi-state income tax returns for individuals, partnerships, corporations, and trusts.

• Review related tax work papers.

• Analyze state filings across business entities/structures to eliminate/reduce errors leading to penalty and interest notices.

• Liaise with external service providers as needed on large engagements utilizing multiple tax service providers to ensure consistent filing positions and procedures.

• Manage, organize, and report on large scale state notice & refund processes.

• Research State & Local tax issues for client businesses and stay up to date on changes in tax law.

• Manage major project initiatives for clients (e.g. Pass-through Entity Tax programs).

• Coach/mentor individual team members.

• Communicate effectively with engagement partners.

• Develop and maintain strong client relationships with client personnel and prospective clients.

Requirements

• Must have a minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role within a CA firm or public sector.

• Proficiency in Income Tax Accounting is required.

• Expertise in handling Complex Tax Return scenarios is expected.

• Demonstrable experience in multi-state income tax, property tax, sales & use tax, Partnership tax, and corporate tax.

• Must possess excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

• Strong understanding of tax codes, regulations, and procedures at the federal, state, and local levels.

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

• Must possess a high level of integrity and professionalism.

• Proficiency in using tax software and Microsoft Office Suite.

• Must have a relevant bachelor's degree, preferably in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

• A Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license is highly preferred.
