Summary:

Oversees daily activities related to the store room personnel, material control, inventory control and stores functions. Implements and maintains policies, procedures and material control. Ensures materials are ordered and in stock to meet customer needs while managing acceptable inventory levels. Develops and evaluates personnel to ensure efficient operation of the store room. This is a supervisory position reporting to the Manager of Purchasing and Stores. Primary responsibilities are to implement policies and procedures, train and direct store room clerks in the daily stores activities.

Essential Job Functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Supervises and develops store personnel in accordance with company policy by training, motivating, planning and directing work.

  • Work closely with Buyer.

  • Preparing daily work activities of store personnel.

  • Insure inventory accuracy through cycle count procedures.

  • Manage non stock inventory levels to lowest possible point.

  • Assist in identifying slow moving items and surplus stock and arrange return to vendors.

  • Assist in preparing monthly reports as required.

  • Coordinate return of over shipments.

  • Supervise and coordinate movement of materials from surface to underground and visa versa.

  • Insure timely and accurate storage of all materials and parts.

  • Insure control of all items and paper work related to receiving process.

  • Assist Accounts payable in timely payment of invoices by tracking invoice discrepancies.

  • Assist Manager of Purchasing and Stores in developing new policies and procedures as well as projects.

  • Perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Education: High school degree required/2 year Associates Degree preferred.

  • Experience: 2 years of experience in a store room or parts department.

  • Supervisory Experience: 2 years lead or supervisory level or equivalent preferred.

  • While performing the duties, the employee is required to frequently stand, walk and talk or hear in an underground mining environment. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 80 pounds.
