Eaton’s Power Systems Division is currently seeking a Protection & Control Developer- Power Systems. This position is located at our Franksville, WI location. Relocation and company sponsorship will be provided to candidates currently residing within the US/PR.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $88499.97 - $129799.96 a year.

What you’ll do:

This position is part of a multi-disciplined new product development team based at the Thomas A. Edison Technical Center in Franksville, WI (about 20 miles south of Milwaukee).

We understand the importance of work life balance – you will be offered a hybrid schedule (typically 3 days in office/2 days remote, but can vary).

The Protection & Control Developer- Power Systems will be a critical member of the Power Systems Division’s team and will leverage high-tech embedded control platforms to turn protection and control requirements for the evolving electric grid into reality. This role works directly with internal and external stakeholders to develop both standard and custom protection and control solutions, in addition to serving as a “first user” of internally developed control platforms to provide critical feedback on functionality and roadmap.

You will have the opportunity to contribute to the development of new high-tech products, provide support to electric utilities solving real-world protection and control challenges, and further develop and share subject matter expertise in the technologies driving the digitalization of the power grid.

  • Utilize traditional and graphical programming methods implement solutions for power system P&C applications.

  • Assist product development and testing teams with verification of system functionality.

  • Share your knowledge and experience with internal and external stakeholders through the delivery of training and direct collaboration on projects of varying scope and complexities.

  • Leverage advanced tools and test equipment to simulate, test, and verify protection and control functionality.

  • Develop solutions that conform to industry standards, and contribute your knowledge and experience back to the industry through participation in standards development.

  • Work with a global team of engineers and developers supporting a variety of control platforms and technologies.

Qualifications:

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Computer Science from an accredited institution

  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in power systems, protection & control, or logical programming

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronic, or Power Systems Engineering from an accredited institution

  • Experience working with medium voltage power distribution system IEDs, such as protective relays, recloser controls, or other related protection and control devices

  • Knowledge of modern utility automation and protection schemes

  • Experience managing projects

  • Experience in power systems protection, coordination, design analysis or relaying

  • Experience in PLC programming, digital logic, combinatorial logic, or use of IEC 61131 programming languages

Skills:

  • Ability to travel up to 10%

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to express complex technical concepts with ease

  • Ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision
