What You'll Be Doing

Job Scope: The Mechanical Engineer is a direct position that is discipline specific and is tactical and daily maintenance focused. The role collaborates with Production and Maintenance personnel for maintenance and repair activities as well as troubleshooting. Additionally, this role provides technical support for Root Cause Failure Analysis and monitors predictive and preventative maintenance programs to improve reliability.

Primary responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Maintaining equipment files, PSM list, and Pipe Service Index.

  • Providing technical data requiring for updating bill of material (BOM) and building TMATs to capture spare parts, also providing technical support to Operations, Maintenance Supervisor, and mechanical crafts to maintain equipment

  • Developing equipment strategies defined by Asset Engineer.

  • Leading informal Root Cause Failure Analysis for mechanical equipment failures.

  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date documentation of all maintenance activities, repairs, and equipment strategies.

  • Identifying opportunities for improvement in maintenance processes and procedures, and implement corrective actions to enhance equipment reliability.

Ideal Background

Education: Bachelor or Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university is required.

Registration: Professional Engineering registration is highly preferred.

Experience: This position requires a minimum of 7+ years of plant maintenance experience in refining, petrochemical, or chemical industry.

  • Knowledge of maintenance, operations, and engineering activities in the petrochemical industry

  • Trouble shooting, root cause analysis, inspection and testing experience required.

  • Strong planning and organization skills.

  • Strong communications, interpersonal skills, initiative, follow-up, analysis and problem assessment skills required.

  • Proficiency in basic MS Office applications, and experience with SAP/R3.

  • Knowledgeable on mechanical codes and practices such as API-510, API-570, ANSI B-31.3, ASME Code Section VIII., API 610, API 682, API 686

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit, stand, or walk for long periods of time.
