Newaygo County Regional Educational Services Agency Special Education Secretary in Fremont, Michigan

General Function

The Special Education Secretary shall carry out those secretarial and clerical activities, which shall ensure the effective operations of the special education office and program.

 

Position Qualifications

 

  • High school graduate, preferably with some additional business education training and/or personal computer training and word processing skills.
  • Recent work experience in one or more of the following areas: secretarial, bookkeeping, clerical and/or personal computer.
  • Must be able to operate a variety of business office machines.
  • Able to maintain an efficient system of filing and retrieval of documents.
  • Competent/proficient with personal computers and related software for spreadsheet, word processing, database applications, and e-mail, and willing to attend additional classes for training.
  • Must demonstrate a personality and other professional traits and qualities compatible to dealing with NC RESA students, staff and the public.

  • Solid organizational and planning skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to work as a member of a team and contribute to the agency vision and goals.
  • Able to demonstrate confidentiality in all matters.
  • Positive leadership skills.
  • Must complete and pass required criminal history check.

     

Essential Duties

 

Essential duties shall include, but not be limited to:

 

  • Act as the initial point of contact for visitors and parents who enter or contact the building.
  • Gather, submit and enter student daily attendance and hot lunch count.
  • Order classroom materials.
  • Act as the MI-ACCESS building liaison.
  • Coordinate classroom transportation requests.
  • Arrange for staff substitutes.
  • Process correspondence and mail.
  • Act as a resource, if needed, to employees, students and the general public visiting the NC RESA.
  • Possess knowledge of NC RESA's organization, mission, and philosophy.
  • Perform other duties deemed appropriate by the Supervisor of Special Education Services.
