How is Internal Audit in Cigna organized?
You are a key member of the Internal Audit team covering Europe, Middle-East & Africa (EMEA) and North America. You will primarily be home based and have the flexibility to occasionally work from our Glasgow office. You will report directly to the Head of the Internal Audit for these regions.
As Internal Audit Senior Advisor you serve as project leader on the delivery of the EMEA internal audit plan and play a lead role in completing complex components of large-scale audit projects. For this, you will be supported by junior members of the team who you will lead for the duration of the audit.
You will support the identification of risk-based audits for Europe, Middle-East & Africa and North-America, represent the Internal Audit function in key business meetings and support audit projects across these 3 “regions”.
You will be responsible for assessing and reporting on complex business domains, identifying relevant internal control issues and providing support in value-add businesses’ recommendations. You are a driven and pro-active person, capable of delivering an audit from beginning to end, always on the look-out for enhancing and making more efficient our auditing practices, and capable of prioritising your and the junior members’ workload in effective manner.
What are your main responsibilities?
You will provide counsel and advice to top management on significant Audit matters, often requiring coordination between organizations. You focus on providing thought leadership and technical expertise across multiple disciplines. You will be recognized internally as “the go-to person” for the most complex Internal Audit assignments.
Your main tasks are as follows:
Coordinate the delivery of the Internal Audit Plan for all the European, Middle-East & Africa and North America business lines in line with the strategies and the businesses lines’ risk profiles.
Propose adjustments to the Internal Audit Plan to the Head of EMEA IA.
Ensure that audits are executed in line with IIA professional practice standards and in adherence with the agreed timelines from the establishment of objectives and scope, the assignment of appropriate and adequately supervised resources, the documentation of work programs and testing results and the communication and reporting of audit results to appropriate parties.
Follow-up on engagement findings and corrective actions and report to the relevant authorities or Internal Audit Representatives any corrective actions not effectively implemented.
Perform complex financial, operational and/or IT audits on EMEA and North America’ business lines utilizing independent judgment and discretion.
Lead complex or large scale audit projects on EMEA and North America’ business lines, including definition of audit scope, control evaluation, test activities, audit reporting, issue resolution, and identification of business risk profiles.
Ensure that correct procedures are followed and that documentation is prepared in accordance with standards. Identifies internal control issues and makes recommendations.
Supervise day-to-day activities and provides training to less experienced staff.
Provide support in the elaboration of the audit plan.
Provide ad-hoc guidance to the key stakeholders on highly prioritized projects.
What skills do you need?
A degree in Economics, Accounting, Finance or related field. CA/CPA or CIA certification is a plus.
Minimum 5 years of professional experience as an internal auditor either within Financial Services or Digital Start-Up sectors. Previous audit experience in Financial Crime or System of Information is desirable
In-depth understanding of basic accounting principles, control procedures and audit standards, practices and techniques. CAATs knowledge is desirable.
Possess excellent oral and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to present at all levels of the organization.
Proven ability to build effective relationships with business partners globally. Cross-cultural agility and sensitivity.
Ability to think analytically, interpret information/observations, apply judgment and make effective decisions. Innovative and able to challenge the conventional ways of doing things.
Able to multi-task and adapt quickly to change. Strong organizational agility and results driven.
Comfortable working in both an office-based and virtual team-based collaborative environment.
Willingness to travel both within Europe and Worldwide (when allowed and in compliance with the Covid 19 travel safety measures).
