Chart Industries UK and International Tax Manager in Glasgow, United Kingdom

Exciting Opportunity for a UK and International Tax Manager.

We are searching for a Tax Manager to join our busy team based in Renfrew.

As a Tax Manager, you will be apart of the in-house tax team of an international publicly traded company, support the UK based Senior International Tax Manager, responsible for international and UK tax reporting, compliance and projects. You will assist with international tax advisory and compliance matters such as BEPS Pillar 2, legal entity reduction and rationalisation, group structure and intercompany financing simplification, and US GAAP tax accounting. Also, manage UK domestic tax compliance including statutory reporting and tax return filing.

What Needs To Be Done?

  • Assist with overseeing and supporting a selection of international jurisdictions in which Chart operates throughout the tax compliance cycle.

  • Review of regional tax provisions under US GAAP for a selection of international jurisdictions.

  • Support in international tax projects to solve tax problems, improve tax efficiencies or provide the business with tax advice through research, preparation of internal memoranda and journals.

  • Act as the in-house UK tax manager, responsible for the review and filing of UK corporate tax computations and year tax accounting calculations under US and UK GAAP, including tax notes, journals and providing support throughout the external tax audit.

  • Management of UK tax risk register, ensuring the UK Chart group is compliant with SAO legislation.

  • Management and administration of UK direct cash tax payments.

  • Assistance with other tax matters such as transfer pricing, VAT and indirect tax.

  • Develop in-depth knowledge of Chart activities and tax legislation in the global jurisdictions in which it operates.

  • Assist with managing Chart’s relationship with tax authorities and HMRC administration such as Tax Residency Certificates.

  • Develop successful relationships with the business units throughout the globe and with other Chart departments including Group legal, treasury and finance.

  • Act as the first point of contact for other departments and companies throughout the international group with regard to taxes.

  • Contribute to building a high-performance culture and positive work environment in a remote global tax team, including strong communication across a remote environment.

  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of standard operating procedures and processes within tax, driving efficiencies and the timely delivery of work

To be successful you must have …

  • Qualified Accountant and / or tax qualification

  • Experience, ideally obtained in a corporate tax department in practice or preferably industry

  • Experience with large and complex global organisations

  • Significant knowledge and experience of UK direct tax legislation

  • Experience in the preparation and filing of UK tax computations and returns 

  • Experience in the preparation of year end reporting tax effect accounting calculations, including journals and tax disclosure notes

  • Experience or willingness to develop knowledge in international tax and international advisory projects

  • Confident communicator, able to build relationships and interact with a variety of difference stakeholders in a diverse, global business

  • Ability to manage and prioritise conflicting tasks

  • A continuous improvement mind-set with an ongoing desire to use technology to improve and streamline processes

  • Excellent MS Office skills, in particular Excel
