Social Media Content Creator
The Social Media Content Creator works closely with digital marketing and recruitment marketing colleagues in Rowan University's Division of Strategic Enrollment Management, and with university partners across the institution. This individual is a key member of a high-performing marketing department, whose role is vital to the success of social media engagement, which is a critical, strategic marketing function supporting the achievement of Rowan’s aggressive marketing and enrollment goals.
The Social Media Content Creator supports Rowan University’s communication goals via videography, photography, and social media, by producing engaging, original video and other visual content for the University’s social media channels, including TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, etc.
Contributing to a collaborative work environment, the Social Media Content Creator receives day-to-day guidance from the Assistant Director of Recruitment Marketing and Social Media, works alongside the Assistant Director of Social Media Community Management, and partners with other members of the social media and recruitment marketing team.
Primary Responsibilities
Assist in the creation of content to drive a 365-day social media publication calendar, which supports messaging and campaign strategies across all University social media platforms.
Develop and produce engaging original video content to be published via social platforms optimized for dynamic visual content, such as Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube.
Collaborate with the recruitment marketing team to ensure that content is relevant and helps the institution maximize engagement, reach, and enrollments.
Support identification and execution of new and creative approaches to communicating via social channels.
Stay informed about emerging social media platforms, technologies, and trends, recommending their integration into social media and recruitment marketing strategies.
Assist in the management and curation of user-generated content, supporting the goal of fostering a sense of community and involvement among prospective and current students, their families, university alumni, and other stakeholders.
Contribute social content and help generate ideas for other units throughout campus, such as University Relations, Student Affairs, Alumni Relations, various academic units, etc.
Qualifications
Required
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution
Minimum two (2) years of professional experience in the marketing field, with an emphasis in social media and content creation
Demonstrated experience contributing to social media platforms, including Instagram, TikTok and YouTube
Strong knowledge of current video and audio production equipment and technologies
Experience with post-production processes, including sound editing, color-correction, and lighting
Proficiency in photo editing/processing, visual effects, and sound software (e.g. Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premiere, etc.)
Demonstrated visual storytelling expertise with the ability to incorporate brand voice and identity
Deep interest in popular social media platforms and social media trends
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Demonstrated commitment to work within a diverse environment and interact openly with individuals of different backgrounds.
Proven ability to manage multiple projects in a deadline driven environment
Keen attention to detail
Creative and enthusiastic, yet process oriented
Ability to manage relationships with diplomacy at all levels
Ability to work on weekends and evenings for events as needed
Preferred
Experience producing content within a higher education environment
Experience piloting drones
Still photography skills
Experience managing business social media accounts
