Position Description

Serco supports the US Navy as a prime for their Team Submarine contract supporting the acquisition of submarines. The Team Submarine concept unifies once diverse submarine-related activities into a single submarine-centric organization with the goal of eliminating traditional stovepipe structures and processes that created impediments and inefficiencies in the submarine research, development, acquisition, and maintenance communities. Team Submarine provides improved communication among the various offices that contribute to the overall success of the United States Submarine Force.

Serco-NA is seeking a motivated individual to provide programmatic support to one of our Team Submarine customers. The On-Site Logistics Specialist (OSLS) will support an active contract with the U.S. Navy in Groton, Connecticut. Submarine experience is a plus.

To be successful you must have strong leadership and problem-solving skills to assist with the daily operation of the program office. The OSLS continually works with team members on all levels, so strongly developed written and verbal communication skills are crucial. The OSLS must take the necessary steps to overcome problems the program office faces. An effective OSLS must possess confidence to take initiative and make decisions each day that can impact the program office’s daily operations. They must have extensive knowledge on how the program office functions, so it’s best if the OSLS holds years of experience working in the submarine community.

In this role, you will:

  • Have knowledge of technical specification development for drawing format used for Block V VPM and CLB Class construction drawings.

  • Have knowledge of development of new submarine Ship Drawing Index format to support new VPM and CLB drawing formats and drawing metadata.

  • Coordinate with VIRGINIA Class maintenance activities to assess bassline capabilities and identify new capabilities required to support ships using model-based drawings.

  • Coordinate with Electric Boat and PMS397 for development of user guides, training materials, etc., to allow for efficient use/consumption of ship’s model data.

  • Have knowledge of IPDE process/product integration risk management.

  • Share lessons learned from adoption and use of product data systems and model-based definition with SSN(X) program.

  • Have knowledge of OSLS for New Construction Submarine building and acquisition. This requires adept management of Supply Support tasks to completion, interface with over 20 stakeholders with regard to over 200 critical milestones/tasks required prior to certification and delivery New Construction (NEWCON). This position also requires physical presentations of status at quarterly Supply Support Readiness Reviews and Integrated Logistics Support Management Team Meetings.

  • Act as Supply Support Manager Assistant for certification requirements that include developing weekly ILS Status Reports and attendance at weekly certification status meetings. Participation in weekly outfitting meetings, COSAL Maintenance Action (CMA) Working Group meetings are also required.

  • Supply Chain and Expediting work is required for this position, this requires constant contact with NAVSUP and DLA representatives along with an active NAVSUP One Touch account for status processing.

  • Experience with Naval Supply System and logistics procedures, along with submarine experience is helpful in this role.

  • Microsoft Excel expert is a must is this position. and other logistic products and how the MBPS program will deliver these products

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A Secret clearance and U.S. Citizenship for consideration.

  • Bachelor’s degree. Ten or more years of experience in Navy acquisition and Submarine Programs will substitute for a degree.

  • Eight to ten years.

  • Excellent written and oral communications skills.

  • Proven excellent interpersonal skills.

  • The ability to multitask effectively.

  • The ability to pay attention to details and to work based on available data and not guesswork.

  • The ability to use Microsoft Office packages effectively.

  • Experience as a project manager.

  • The ability to be flexible both in relation to job-specification and schedules.

  • The ability to solve problems.

  • Active-Duty Experience in the submarine preferred.

  • Recent experience in Team Submarine would be ideal.

  • Have the ability to travel at least 10% of the time.

Additional desired experience and skills:

  • Ten or more years of experience with Navy acquisition and submarine programs.

  • Strong organizational and leadership skills.

  • Working knowledge of VIRGINIA Class submarine layout and processes.

  • Subject Matter Expertise (SME) for submarine enterprise data systems for 3D model data, engineering drawings, configuration management, and maintenance planning & execution.

  • An active NNPI account and CAC.

  • Experience leading a project and interfacing with an end item customer.

  • Knowledge of Program Management, including the acquisition process, the budgeting process and Navy program execution.
